I didn't see Sanders in the crowd, but it was a huge crowd. I kinda don't think he was there, but I could be wrong.

hillary attended because she knew Pinckney and was with him the day before he was shot.

boehner holds a top position in the country as speaker.

all the Senators who attended? The Rev was a supporter of Hillary and they were together the day before so I would have been very surprised not to see her there. And Boner is the majority leader of the Senate so of course he would attend. Unless Bernie is a friend of his or was invited I would hope that he didn't attend, it's not a political thing. I imagine someone will have the answer.

thought it would have distracted as a political stunt, it shouldn't be viewed that way. It is solidarity with the civil rights movement. Boehner sent a delegation to the memorial, so it would be totally appropriate as long as they don't make political speeches. Was O'Malley or other candidates republican or Demicratic?

I don't think this should be used for or against a candle date whether they went or not

A perfect example of a memorial service that turned into a political circus was Paul Welstone. I don't think that would happen here

that I do not see any problem with a candidate attending, nor do I believe this should used against any candidate for not attending

The reason I think it is very appropriate for any potential candidate is because it sends a solidarity to the civil rights movement

he didn't publicize on twitter or facebook. Here's the Washington post article on the visit:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2015/06/24/presidential-hopeful-martin-omalley-among-those-paying-respects-to-slain-s-c-pastor/

On a previous trip to South Carolina, an early presidential nominating state, O’Malley paid a visit to the Charleston church. Pinckney pulled together a group of clergy and community leaders to meet with O’Malley in the basement of the church and gave him a tour, according to one of O’Malley’s associates.

This isn't an attack on anyone. It's a simple question.

I didn't get to see the funeral because I haven't been home all day.
