Related: About this forumCory Booker Formally Backs Hillary Clinton
Senate's only African American Democratic member endorses HillaryBooker, who endorsed then-Clinton rival Barack Obama in 2008, told supporters that he's backing Clinton just one day before his home state governor, New Jersey's Chris Christie, is expected to join the race for the GOP nomination.
"Hillary has fought for her entire career to expand opportunities for all Americans, and these last few months have been amazing to behold," Booker said in an email to supporters. "We've seen Hillary exhibit outstanding leadership not only on apprenticeships and youth unemployment, but also criminal justice reform all issues you and I care deeply about."
The move also came before a key fundraising deadline for presidential candidates.
Booker's backing is not a surprise; he told NBC News in April that "there are few candidates in history who are as qualified or ready for the job of president as Hillary Clinton."

(30,481 posts)"Mitt Romney has made his buisness record a center piece of his campaign. Hes talked about himself as a job creator. Therefore it is reasonable, and in fact I encourage it, for the Obama campaign to examine that record and to discuss it. I have no problem with that. I believe, in many ways, Mitt Romney is not being honest about his role and his record even as a business person and is shaping it to serve his political purposes and not necessarily including all the facts from his time there." (30,481 posts)It was about Booker. But to make your point one could have only read a small portion of the article.

(12,504 posts)I fully expect that his trajectory will be towards the White House. Making well planned and deliberate decisions now will have a future impact. I'm positive his endorsement was well thought out on very many levels. He has a confidence in Hillary and her platforms that he knows is good for the nation....otherwise, he would have steered away from this endorsement.

(14,572 posts)Full disclosure: I am rooting for Bernie.
That said, I'm not interested as much in individual endorsements, but in
1) institutional/organizational endorsements
2) donors
3) use and deployment of surrogates
As it plays out, this will be a very interesting primary season.
