Bernie packs Hofheiz Pavillion despite virtual media blackout. Meanwhile . . .

In the run-up to today's turn-out at Hofheiz Pavillion (which had to be moved from the smaller 1500 seat Cullen Hall), a Google search of www.chron.com for "Bernie Sanders" "Houston" reveals no mention by Houston's "newspaper" of any scheduled Sanders appearance. (3 days earlier, the Chronicle ran an article titled "Socialist Sanders on Low End of Earners Among Candidates", which made no mention of any Texas or Houston appearance.

In contrast, 2 days before Rand Paul's campaign rally, the Chronicle ran "Rand Paul Returns to Texas for Rally", and followed this up with a second puff piece on the morning of Paul's "Stand With Rand" rally, complete with a reminder that "Paul will address 'the importance of protecting the entire Bill of Rights, and being boldly for conservative ideals that limit the power of the Washington Machine.' The first-term senator from Kentucky, a Texas native , will also be fundraising while in Houston. Paul's rally begins at 2:45 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency, downtown."

So. . . what kind of success did Houston's (former) "newspaper" achieve in drumming up attendance for "Stand with Rand"? . . . . . . . Well, it seems for some reason the photos are making themselves a little scarce! (Guess filling the Hyatt ballroom was too much to ask.)

Score: one for the American people,
. . . zip for the corporate "media"

Go, Bernie!

People I know, even those that vote the other way, were aware of it. I don't think the MSM is all that important anymore.

Don't even own a TV, but CNN was on at work during lunch, so I checked it out curious if Sanders extorfinary weekend would be talked about. I think it was Jake Tapper (?) who was on...plenty of talk about Trumps flap over his McCain comments, a little about Hillary speaking somewhere over the weekend, and even the reaction O'Malley got at NN when he said "all lives matter".

Not mention one of Sanders...at all.

Doesn't surprise me...they appear to be going into ignore mode. Won't work, though.

3. The MSM are old and outdated, no one reads them anymore. Young people probably

don't even know what CNN is. OWS didn't need them, yet made news using their OWN Media around the Globe.

I'm happy to NOT have them cover this campaign, as their biased coverage would simply aim at trying to smear the people's candidate.

Funny that despite their lack of coverage, the Internet where most people now get their news, is HOPPING with news of Bernie.

It must be puzzling to them to see how popular he is, how many thousands come out, despite their lack of coverage, to hear him speak.

They are soooo irrelevant at this point. So old and so boring.

The new media will make sure that people know about the people's candidate. Leave the old media to the old out-of-touch political operatives. I prefer they NOT cover Bernie frankly.

As soon as he wins a couple of primaries and becomes front runner. Then we'll see...

(gasp) socialist (shudder)

And in the meantime he'll keep winning.

(PTB) are going to be the LAST entities to get a clue about the upcoming tsunami. I mean, it's like they're standing there looking at this coming straight at them and they're commenting on the weather. The Houston and Dallas rallies absolutely blew me away. This entire weekend was incredible. Phoenix was unbelievable (minus NN15).

And notice the usual detractors have dropped the "he only appeals to white guys in New England" trope? Every time they come up with some new bullshit this campaign counters it and they do it not with millions paid to "experts" or focus groups or polls, they just let Bernie be Bernie. Problem solved.

In the video, that lame ass David Brooks and the propaganda of Claire McCarthy say it all.

It's already getting to the point where it's blatant, that the media are purposely not covering him...and it's really early in the process.

So he does have a lot of people nervous!

11. Hillary has hundreds of millions to spend on media. Media is a business.

You think the media wants to lose those Clinton millions (billions?) - nope.
This is where so much of the campaign chest goes. People talk about how much a candidate raises, but look where that money goes - the media. They are not going to let go of it. A candidate's views or worth is totally totally immaterial.
Look at how much media attention Trump gets. Trump will spend a lot of money.
