Hillary Rodham Clinton is showing some signs of weakness against potential Republican rivals in three swing states, according to a poll from Quinnipiac University that could raise concern within the Democrats campaign. The survey found that Mrs. Clinton is lagging behind Senator Marco Rubio, Gov. Scott Walker and former Gov. Jeb Bush in head-to-head matchups in Iowa, Colorado and Virginia, three swing states. Her favorability ratings have declined and voters are increasingly questioning her leadership abilities.
In several matchups in Iowa and Colorado, another Democratic contender, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, runs as well as, or better than Clinton against Rubio, Bush and Walker. Vice President Joseph Biden does not do as well.
Clinton gets markedly negative favorability ratings in each state, 35 - 56 percent in Colorado, 33 - 56 percent in Iowa and 41 - 50 percent in Virginia.
The worst favorability ratings for any Democrat or Republican in the presidential field belong to Trump: 31 - 58 percent in Colorado, 32 - 57 percent in Iowa and 32 - 61 percent in Virginia.
"Hillary Clinton's numbers have dropped among voters in the key swing states of Colorado, Iowa and Virginia. She has lost ground in the horserace and on key questions about her honesty and leadership," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll. "On being a strong leader, a key metric in presidential campaigns, she has dropped four to 10 points depending on the state and she is barely above 50 percent in each of the three states."
Matchups in each state show:

Mrs. Clinton performed better in a similar poll in April, suggesting that months of controversy of her use of a private email account and donations the Clinton Foundation might have taken a toll on her popularity. But the survey does appear to contradict national polls that show Mrs. Clinton outpacing her Republican counterparts. Quinnipiac finds that Donald J. Trump, the Republican business mogul who has been surging in many polls, is perhaps the biggest loser. He is viewed negatively by a margin of 2 to 1 in all three states.
There was also some good news in the poll numbers for Senator Bernie Sanders, Mrs. Clintons rival for the Democratic nomination. The independent from Vermont was performing as well or better than Mrs. Clinton against Republicans, meaning that the former secretary of state could be facing stiff competition on both fronts.

(14,923 posts)By contrast Sanders is still not well known by 40 percent of voters in both Iowa and Colorado. Voters who have formed an opinion of the Vermont Senator are about evenly divided. With a 32-28 favorable rating in Iowa, and a 29-31 rating in Colorado, Sanders is better liked by voters familiar with him than either Hillary Clinton or Jeb Bush are by voters familiar with them...."

(53,985 posts)Looks as if it's time for the media to roll out the "horse race" since the Sanders/Clinton race isn't providing any sparks.
I'd like to know what percentage of "disgruntled Democrats" participated in the polling. Surely that group would have a motive in making Hillary appear vulnerable by not being truthful in their responses.
