(30,481 posts)and member you are mocking. I like some aren't hiding their feelings anymore.

(57,349 posts)It's not mocking anything except ridiculous revelations about Bernie.

(30,481 posts)Keep the thought consistent. Don't say it is about man us thread and then one sentence later confirm what it really is.
I love the transparency. This is about a reply you made to an op started three weeks ago. Not the current op that your headline is a copy cat of. Lol.

(57,349 posts)I went back to Manny's thread to find some material and was inspired.
If you don't like the poll don't vote.

(30,481 posts)The spin deepens. I get it. I see what inspires you. Makes more sense now.

(62,325 posts)'optics' were when Bernie first entered the race, are EXTREMELY important issues which can make or break a candidate??
This is why I don't think Trump can possibly win, it will be the hair in the end.
Now we are looking at their taste in music.
Even if it turns out to be true that Bernie DOES love Barry Manilow, so long as he stays FAR, FAR away from the Kardashians, I am willing to overlook it.
THAT would be the final straw for me!
You know something? People may find this to be irrelevant, but then, we have to look at who candidates allow themselves to be photographed with. Their advisers no doubt calculating how many votes they might get depending on the popularity of the 'star'.
Low info voters apparently can be attracted to a candidate by something like these inane 'issues'.
How sad is that?

It's a good thing we can see the humour in their desperation because they sure can't.

(22,000 posts)for the show next month. He backed her in 2008, but then ended up getting behind Obama once the primary was over.

(57,349 posts)He is a certifiable socialist and once lived in a commune* you know.
*Yes, someone actually said that.
senz
(11,945 posts)and, yes, I could imagine him staying on with Dylan after he "went electric."
There were communes and then there were communes, and in the mid to late sixties, a LOT of people lived communally, often like-minded people merely sharing a suite in a building in a city, sharing food, smoking dope, living loosely and gently together. It wasn't a Big Deal. So, being the person he was, he could have done that. But nowadays, people see the sixties in a two-dimensional, stereotypical way and would (and will) try to paint Bernie as some kind of wild man. But at that time, it was not wild. For someone like Bernie, it would have been deeply sincere and kind and good. As it often was, for maybe two or three years.
I admire him so much for keeping the faith, so to speak. He seems to have stayed true to his ideals. I hope they don't hurt him.

(11,945 posts)Very sweet and emotional. Cannot imagine him ever letting himself be used by someone like Christie.

Well you came and you gave without taking and I sent you away, oh Sanders.
Cheers!

(57,349 posts)His announcement in Burlington on the waterfront -- get it?
eta I've never listened to Barry Manilow. Ever. I only know the lyrics cuz...um...they came to me in a dream.
Yeah, that's it.

(9,289 posts)42% (8) said that they would prefer Sanders to win the primary and 27% (5) said that they would prefer Clinton to win the primary. It does not surprise me that Sanders would be so much more appealing to people like that.

(22,308 posts)Just admit it, you like a lot of those songs too.
beam me up scottie
(57,349 posts)Just because I know the lyrics to his songs, the word 'Fanilow' and the fact that Barry wrote the Bandaid jingle doesn't mean I like him or anything.
Motown_Johnny
(22,308 posts)even if you don't like the style of music he sings. The tone is exceptional.
beam me up scottie
(57,349 posts)You got me. I was kidding, I always liked him.
I remember I almost put someone on ignore because they called him a two bit lounge singer.
Just don't tell anyone.
I do have an image to consider.
Motown_Johnny
(22,308 posts)but most don't admit it.
He has a great voice and some of the songs are catchy. If someone tells me they don't like any of his stuff I don't believe them.

(11,945 posts)Late last night I found a recording of this along with a discussion of how Bernie made the album, how it was proposed to him because he loved folk music, how he admitted that it felt nice to his ego, and how his cohorts in this scheme eventually realized that Bernie has absolutely no sense of rhythm (except in his speeches), can't even tap his foot in time. I was going to bring it over here and share w/bmus but was too tired and also too aware of my own Bernie-like limitations that keep me from being light and funny in the way that bmus is w/o even trying. So I can't keep the "rhythm" of the thread, which must be a tad irritating to a virtuoso like bmus.
Anyway, that video -- which I hadn't found -- is absolutely precious on so many levels, and I hope Bernie will use it in his campaign -- or that we the people spread it around the internet. It shows how unpolished and utterly sincere the man is, how simple and real and right on he is. I've admired many politicians; don't think I've ever loved one before.
So THANK YOU for this.
