Some of you were not around for 2008... so you do not remember. But the war between the then Clinton supporters and the Obama supporters got bad. There were many bruised egos. Hell, when she finally conceded, some left in a huff creating the Party Unity My Ass, PUMA for short.
What I am seeing on this site makes that looks like a pikers vacation. Some folks are throwing divisive shit, trying to get people to react. Some are just calling people names (on all sides mind you)...
Some of us do not care who the fuck you vote for. Hell, it is none of your business who I vote for... it is that simple... that secrecy is guaranteed by LAW. But what is happening here... well the scabs from 2008 are now off, the wounds are getting deeper... and it might tear a few folks away from Democrats.
Keep doing this, and I can predict this war will be nuclear. I can also predict this site will not heal.
And yes, from now on you post a divisive OP... expect me to call you on it. I am damn tired of it... that is not a threat... it is a promise. You post divisive shit calling supporters of candidates names, expect me to just point it out. Divisive shit. I expect this behavior to continue, but silence IS consent.
I also expect to be alert stalked, already started. And I also expect to have some individuals push buttons. Guaranteed, that your pushing of buttons will be answered with just two words. DIVISIVE SHIT. Or if this is actually bullying., the word bully
This is not healthy, but you know what? I am actually looking forward to failing in this endeavor due to the forces at play and for even MORE people to give up on politics and just retreat to their lives. There is so much abuse people will take. And I expect those same people to blame the voters for argle, bargle, usual blame game.
And to the hosts... the fact that this is allowed, I know it is not a bug, it is a feature. So if you close this down... it will not surprise me either.

(10,642 posts)Why posters continue to slam one candidate while supporting another is beyond me.
My "ignore" list continues to grow...
Hang in there!

(7,820 posts)It's really getting ugly. And frankly, I'm sick of the nastiness.

(6,409 posts)I'm with you here. These posts that try establish guilt by association are the most annoying to me, personally. Each of the candidates knows many people, has many campaign contributors, attends parties, poses for photo ops with all kinds of people. Some of this stuff is just ridiculous. A photo of somebody shaking hands with Fidel Castro does not mean that person is a friend or supporter of Castor or his policies. Remember when they tried to use this against Obama, because he knew the guy who bombed a building in the 1960s? Yeah, well I knew a guy who went to prison for murder. Probably every one of knows somebody who did something bad. In some cases, the bad person is an immediate family member. So what? Good luck in calling out the nonsense.

(154,021 posts)since we hang out with people who are documented, due to the work we do. So this can have very real life consequences. Here, it is just nasty stuff.

I think that the repugs enjoy our division. I don't
like to see them to profit from it.

(154,021 posts)this is very much by design. Yes, I went there. And it is by design on BOTH parties... go over to Free Republic and make yourself comfortable. There is a war going on there as well. Cui Bono?

(115,674 posts)or so I thought. Divisive rhetoric and insults fired at the candidates and their supporters will not help defeat the GOP next year. I hope something changes so we can all enthusiastically promote the candidacy of whoever we prefer without tearing down the others, or the people who support them. While it's true that "politics ain't beanbag," or an endeavor for the faint-hearted or thin-skinned, there's a point at which slinging insults for the purpose, apparently, of scoring points which exist only in the mind of the slinger, becomes monumentally stupid. Thinking before posting is a good idea, as is keeping in mind the fact that nobody is ever persuaded by being insulted.

(31,849 posts)Will your calling out of divisiveness include those calling DUERS "3rd Wayers", and all the other terms some use when referring to those they judge insufficiently progressive (read: do not buy the economic primacy line), or non-Bernie supporters?
I may be mistaken; but, every time I see the term divisive used, it is typically used to castigate someone for raising race as an issue.
