Prominent Republicans Worried Romney May Squander Presidency

Last edited Fri Jul 27, 2012, 02:08 PM - Edit history (1)

Republican strategists are increasingly distressed by the state of the presidential race and wonder if Mitt Romney is missing a golden opportunity to recapture the White House.

Such second-guessing is common when a candidate is lagging behind and seems on the defensive—and both are true with Romney, the presumptive GOP nominee, He is narrowly trailing President Barack Obama in many national polls and is losing by bigger margins in some battleground states, such as Michigan and Colorado.

"There's still a lot of disquiet" in the GOP, says a top conservative strategist. "He's just running a general campaign based on Obama's poor economy. Let's face it, Romney is not a strong candidate. He could still win but he needs to do things differently." Among those second-guessing him have been conservative commentators, including William Kristol and Charles Krauthammer, conservative media owner Rupert Murdoch, and veteran GOP strategists who have been instrumental in past presidential campaigns.

If they think there was ever a 'golden opportunity' here to retake the WH, it's just another demonstration of how out of touch with reality they really are.

This is about their keeping enough Congressional votes to keep the Democrats from creating enough jobs for another 4 years. They hope to swoop in then and finish their complete destruction of America. After that, they have no plan.

6. This shows how EVIL the GOP is. They should NOT be worried about this man losing an election.

They should be worried about him becoming POTUS.

If it's not clear to anyone, the GOP is the party of fascism. This is not a game. It can't be made any clearer than that. Check Thom Hartmann's transcript at this link:

+1

I don't call the republican party the nazi party lightly; they'd like a dictatorship and would like to completely do away with our shredded social safety net.

about the GOP intentionally throwing the election. By them coming out and criticizing Willard Robme like this, it shows that they are playing to win this year and aren't ready to think about 2016 yet. Make no mistake--they still desperately want to oust Obama. They hate his guts.

Obama.

They want and need it desperately.

The Supreme Court make up will change this nation for two generations. My kids and their kids. My kids are three and six.

Anyone who thinks that the R's are "throwing" the election is a goddamn dangerous FOOL.

Is by dirty tricks, fear, and cheating! If they were honest there is no way they would win. When you think they can't get any lower, they just dive in further. It's become so disgusting.
