I've even taken pains not to criticize him with bullshit attacks, in the same way that so many of the "Ready for someone else" DUers have bashed Hillary with warmed over GOP attacks. It's not like there aren't anti-Sanders smears out there. But I just don't believe in it.
If the will of the majority of the Democratic voters pick him as our nominee, I'll vote for him, and work to get him elected.

Hell, Bernie himself will vote for the Democratic nominee, even if it isn't him. That is why he didn't run as a third party. He said there was no way he would split the ticket, and put a republican in the white house.
As far as I am concerned this thread is just a blowing off of steam, and to try to get the goat of people who realize the importance of winning the general election

(62,325 posts)all the new Dems who will be signing up to vote for Bernie, remaining in the party if he does not get the nomination. Such tunnel vision is likely to lose this election, as they lost us the House and Senate.
To win the GE, you have to have more than DUers willing to vote for you.
The practical thing to ensure that happens is to stick to issues and avoid attacking the supporters of other candidates.
Sadly, Hillary's supporters have been incredibly hateful towards Bernie and his supporters. Her Super Pac has already attacked him, even thought it ended up benefiting him, that isn't the point.
I am already seeing comments from people who are preparing to sign up as Dems because of Bernie, on Social Media, saying they are appallled at the negative campaigning of the Hillary camp against their candidate, and that they will not forget it.
You have zero control over voters. If DUers continue to attack Sanders and his supporters the way they have from the beginning, many will simply leave this forum should he not win.
Do you really think you can influence how people vote with this now old 'threat'? The way to win people over is to convince them that your candidate is the best for the job. Threatening people is likely to have the opposite result.
Now explain, how does all the nastiness help your candidate again?

(62,325 posts)supporters?
How many Sanders supporters spent months calling both the Senator and his supporters 'racists'
How about implications of 'dual loyalty' eg?
How about supporters, such as myself eg, being compared to Soviet Union era commies, yes, right here on DU? Any Sanders supporters use that ugly meme against Hillary supporters?
Where are the sites started by Sanders supporters where they are attacking and slamming this site and its members? What a horrible place that is, I will never click that link again. But it did confirm everything people already knew about people who seem to wallow in doing nothing other than attacking people here.
What you see from Sanders supperters are RESPONSES to some of the most vile, nasty attacks I have ever seen from a campaign against people and the candidate they support, ever.
So spare me the pretense.
I think a compilation of these nasty, vile memes is going to be necessary so that we can perhaps work on how to end this kind of political 'dialogue' which is so ugly and should certainly have no place on a forum like this.
Up to today, I did not associate you with the small group here well known for their troll like behavior. But today changed my opinion when I saw you join in with them. Glad I did see it though, I hate to be fooled by people pretending to take the high road.

clue where I stand. I am on record on this website SEVERAL TIMES about where I stand if Bernie is not the nominee. That you're too lazy and/or self-absorbed to know that is not my problem. It's not like I'm a stranger in these parts.

(2,101 posts)Lots of demons around here apparently, real and imagined.
If you really cared about finding out if HRC supporters would vote for Sanders you could have included a poll in your OP. But I suspect you don't really care about learning anything; your cup is quite full.
For the record, next fall I will have no trouble campaigning and voting for the Democratic nominee. Any one of ours is light years better than any one of theirs.
still_one
(98,883 posts)vote for him in the general election, Bernie can't win.
So, the OP in his infinite wisdom believes that using the "cute phrase", "D-", to refer to Hillary supporters , as a clever way to say Hillary supporters "aren't really Democrats", that Bernie doesn't need "any Hillary supporters" to win the general election if he wins the nomination.
That defies logic, and every poll.
I love the convoluted logic being used. Insult the Hillary supporters, and effectively tell them, Bernie doesn't need their votes to win the general election.
This is really laughable.

(9,463 posts)done nothing to deserve it and while he has been a DU hero for at least a decade that I know of. Now, all of a sudden he's a bad guy? Fuck that shit.
Hillary, on the other hand, has a long history of questionable and despicable behavior, beginning with her vote for the IWR. Not to mention that she is bought and paid for. Bernie isn't owned by anyone, much less the fucking NRA.
still_one
(98,883 posts)not pleasant for sure.
Most of us should be discussing and arguing the issues and differences between the candidates without being insulting to each other. That is an ideal situation though, and I don't see that happening for a while here
The only thing I would say is try not to let things get to you too much. Its a long primary season

(6,437 posts)The Biden was the leaked source story, which is frankly beyond the pale.
And the only examples of "I won't vote for x" in this thread are Sanders supporters, ironically.
You need to accept that 90 to 95% of GDP is Sanders positive and Clinton negative. And take a real look sometime at what passes as acceptable speculation about Clinton, because it is just as ugly as how you feel about the NRA association with Bernie.

(98,883 posts)that it shouldn't be done at the Federal level. That doesn't make him a "gun nut". It also is expected that reasonable people could disagree with his position on that, between state verses federal authority. I personally don't agree with Bernie's vote on the Brady Bill.
I do agree with his view that gun manufacterers shouldn't be liebel if someone uses their product in the commission of a crime. To me it is the person who commits the crime who bears full responsibility.
This is primary time, sparing is expected, even if it isn't fair. However, the arguments presented here, on any of the candidates is actually a good thing. There is no doubt that as the election season progresses those issues will be brought up, and the candidates will speak to them. Some will agree, and some will disagree. That is what makes a ball game.
