Hillary Clinton Tweets Support For Tamir Rice's Family
Democratic presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tweeted her support of Tamir Rice and his family on Monday.
Tamir was 12 years old when a police officer in Cleveland, Ohio, gunned him down in November. Official reports released over the weekend say the policeman, who has not been suspended since the shooting, acted reasonably given that the situation was volatile and he had little information.
Clinton's tweet came in the wake of public outcry and frustration at the reports' findings. The presidential hopeful has been working to garner support among Black Lives Matter activists through meetings and vocal demonstrations of solidarity.
President Barack Obama has yet to respond to the reports about Tamir's shooting.
According to the reports, two officers, Timothy Loehmann and Frank Garmback, approached Tamir after a bystander called the police station saying a black male was "pointing his gun at people." The caller also stated that the gun was "probably fake" and the male was "probably a juvenile."
