2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumToday, in public(!) a Berniebro threatened to
reduce income inequality, stop pointless wars, apply the rule of law to bankers and oligarchs, and to make health care a right like it is in every other industrialized nation.
In public! Without shame! He even seemed proud of these things!
They are sick, they are legion, and they must be stopped!
Regards,
TWM
P.S. I totally agree with Bernie about everything, and totally love him, but this Bernie Supporter was the last straw. I'm now endorsing Hillary.

Here, something to cheer you up (pay close attention to the lyrics):
MannyGoldstein
(34,589 posts)Clearly, he hated minorities and is cool with unarmed blacks (sic) being killed by cops.
Good thinking.
He's also obviously in favor of slavery, child labor, and measles. And all kinds of other stuff he didn't mention.
And, more than anything, he's in favor of pathetic trolls.
Cali_Democrat
(30,439 posts)you saw in public today.
Full disclosure and all.
MannyGoldstein
(34,589 posts)would require a post so huge it would take down the Internets.
But maybe I could add something about his love of pathetic, prevaricating, pernicious trolls. I'll think about it.
Cali_Democrat
(30,439 posts)claim was a "Bernie supporter."
Seems like a he has a focus on certain issues like income inequality.
Of course solving income inequality wouldn't have prevented Dylan Roof from murdering 9 black people in South Carolina, but I digress...
MannyGoldstein
(34,589 posts)from lack of medical insurance, because that's a common problem for well-off white men.
Outrage!
Thank goodness we have smart and honest people like you to remind us of these things. To bludgeon us with the truth, so to speak.
Cali_Democrat
(30,439 posts)Did you have a lengthy conversation with him?
I find it hard to believe he wouldn't mention anything about #BlackLivesMatter or racist police violence, especially considering the fact that it's been all over the news the last two years.
Your OP made it quite clear what he was talking about in public. Maybe racist police violence just wasn't the focus of his public rant.
MannyGoldstein
(34,589 posts)of uninsured Americans. Which obviously only happens to well-off white men.
Certainly we can agree that he was a racist swine, no?
And certainly we can agree that killing a million or so people in a war with no purpose should be filed under "meh, @#$% happens", yes?
And certainly we can agree that LGBTQ Americans were perverse in The Lord's eyes until 2013.
(since 2013)
Cali_Democrat
(30,439 posts)I've never met him and I've never seen him before in my life.
So I don't think I can call him a racist swine.
But it's also curious that this "Berniebro" person you allegedly saw in public today never mentioned anything about gun violence and the roughly 1.5 million Americans who have died from gun violence since 1968. Did he talk about the recent Oregon gun massacre?
More Americans have died from gun violence than in all US wars combined. No mention, eh? Also, no mention of how our racist criminal justice system targets minorities?
MannyGoldstein
(34,589 posts)by Bernie's D-/F NRA rating, the lowest grade given to a Vermont Senator, representative, or governor in decades. Of course, smart people like you and me know that a grade like this is a sure sign of a libertarian gun humper.
And while I agree that it's not enough to prove that he's racist, we can probably infer, as you did, that he is a racist.
Cali_Democrat
(30,439 posts)voting against the Brady bill 5 times or voting to protect gun manufacturers from lawsuits?
It seems like you had a lengthy conversation with this "Berniebro" person you saw in public.

Sorry it took so long to reply, but I opened your comment amid a sea of distractions, saw that it was going to require some focus and time, and put it aside. Plus, the "can't quit (a person)" meme has unpleasant associations that I've been avoiding for a long time, namely a former boyfriend's singing Blood Sweat & Tears' "I can't quit her" repeatedly in the company of our friends after I backed out. So forced myself to listen to that inferior piece too, and felt a little sympathy after all these years. Probably a good thing, all in all.
Anyway, thanks for a treat.

Or perhaps passed real gun control measures that reduced gun violence. Maybe that courageous fighter of a senator could have used their considerable power and connections to put some heat on Wall Street, or fight for LGBT rights, or used their chance to reform our health care system successfully....alas, there is no such alternative, only a finger to the wind, politically expedient third-way snake oil salesman who claims to be all of those things, while actually, of course, being none of them.....oh well, guess I'll have to settle for Sanders....

The GOP think winning is everything. Why not just give up and join them?
Maybe, If Hillary proclaimed; "I'm divorcing my husband. He has disgraced me. And rather than pander and wheel I will pursue elected office on my own without the machine we've built together.
I will cast all of that aside - and work for you - my American family."
She wouldn't have to wait in the wings. She might not have won. She would have set the stage.
And deserved my vote.

(360 posts)I am a white male Bernie Sanders supporter. So I feel uniquely qualified to comment on the dross...
Call me what you want, but keep this in mind.
1. It's it not a crime to be a white male. With that being said everyone through their god given human empathy should be able to acknowledge the pain, the needs, and the nobility of those who do not receive the very real benefits of white male privilege.
2. Just because Hillary is a woman does not negate my voice, nor my right to support a candidate who is not herself on the basis of my sex or gender.
3. Bernie Supporters are not just white males. We come in all races, genders, income brackets, Religious beliefs, and Nationalities. We will not force ourselves into your narrow minded mold.
4. Your attack will not shut us up, it will make us 10 times more vocal. For me personally it will open my wallet even wider to Bernie Sanders than it already has been.
With all that said the thing to keep in mind is that by attacking us you are burning a bridge that you won't be able to repair. Should your candidate somehow win the nomination which I still do not think will happen. You might find it impossible to get the Bernie Bros to come out and vote for your candidate. That is something that can cost the Democrats the election.
So #HillaryClinton you need to reel in your mouthpieces before they write a check your campaign can't cash.
