2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumCan we agree that its over?
Secretary Clinton looked masterful today. Cool, calm and collected in face the insanity unwinding all around her.
She has a 30 point lead that is expanding.
Vice President Biden has to decided to forgo a run. His donors are rapidly moving to Secretary Clinton.
What is Senator Sanders path to victory? He has none. Democrats now know who the field is, and have demonstrated in every poll, resoundingly, that Secretary Clinton is their choice for the Democratic Party nominee.
Senator Sanders tried hard, but has hit his high water mark. After the first debate, and today's performance, Secretary Clinton has flung aside the last barriers to her nomination.
A great day indeed.

(11,417 posts)We have much to gain by hearing about the issues that divide us and the right.
I only wish we could stop making up shit about Hillary.
A legitimate policy difference of opinion is not what I am talking about.

(3,076 posts)What does Bernie Sanders do to get above 25%? He's hit his high water mark.

(3,076 posts)And President Huckabee (2008 winner)??
Iowa means next to nothing. Look at ANY national poll. It's a runaway train gaining steam.
BainsBane
(57,757 posts)and I say that as a Clinton supporter. She certainly wouldn't say it's over. Time and time against she has said she needs to EARN every single vote. I don't believe this sort of statement at all helpful or in keeping with her campaign strategy.

(3,649 posts)Except maybe Dr. Who. But 3 months is a long time in the American political world, and I doubt that the Clinton campaign is going to sit back and declare themselves the winner tonight.

(57,757 posts)The primary contest is not over until people actually vote. I think it very important to keep that in mind. Polls are not votes. They are a snapshot of public opinion at a given period in time. It is the delegate count that will determine the election.

(11,785 posts)makes her past decisions forgettable or her recent evolutions more credible, but it doesn't. If anything, it makes her even more unacceptable, because today is a reminder of what her Presidency would be: nothing but her dodging poo from the howler monkeys.

(35,015 posts)Unfortunately, our democracy cannot afford the convenience of a bought-and-paid for candidate who will do nothing to change the trajectory of our country (down the drain).
It's not over.

(23,671 posts)She has been milking sympathy support out of the Benghazi hearings, end that now and she will have to start defending her proposed policies to an electorate that isnt real happy with the current state of our political structure.
Bernie and O'Malley would finally have a solid target to aim at.

(22 posts)The DNC, which is run by women that support HRC, are doing everything they can to make
HRC look like she is ahead. We have a year to go, and with Bernie's absolutely flawless
record, he will be the winner. His grassroots campaign will continue to grow.

(25,586 posts)(by the time things swing around to California - you know, that super-important state - the nominee has already been determined) but I'm really curious as to why you stressed "women that support HRC"? Does their gender bug you?

(21,204 posts)Do you want to cancel the few debates we have left?
Do you want HRC to sail in without anyone other than the GOP to challenge her?
Do you remember the 2008 election?
From her Wikipedia profile:
'By September 2007, polling in the first six states holding Democratic contests showed that Clinton was leading in all of them, with the races being closest in Iowa and South Carolina. By the following month, national polls showed Clinton far ahead of Democratic competitors.[263] At the end of October, Clinton suffered a rare poor debate performance against Obama, Edwards, and her other opponents.[264][265] Obama's message of change began to resonate with the Democratic electorate better than Clinton's message of experience.[266] The race tightened considerably, especially in the early states of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina, with Clinton losing her lead in some polls by December.
It's ridiculous to say it's over with another 3 months until the Iowa caucuses.

(15,435 posts)if there's ONE thing I take away from this fiasco is that I'VE HAD ENOUGH! The hate her, they'll NEVER stop and I WILL NOT vote for 4 or 8 more years of this crap! This country has so much work to do, so much rebuilding and so much mending, so electing her is to elect more of the same!
My support of Bernie is stronger than ever! I will give her enormous credit for what she's had to go through, but MY LIFE doesn't need any more of this kind of HATE AND DESTRUCTION!
Other countries are laughing at us and wondering what in the hell has happened to us. I know this from personal one on one talks with people I know IN other countries. And if THIS country does this again I'd say we're just too stupid to know when to quit!
NO, NOPE, NOT, NADA, NEVER... add your own.

(2,510 posts)This is the kind of OP that just burns me up against all Hillary supporters....
Wanting it "over" before the process is even begun, seems like a Rethuglican way of doing things...
The primary race should go on,
all the way to California in June,
as far as I'm concerned.
