http://www.kare11.com/news/article/987215/396/Lawsuit-to-end-same-day-voter-registration-dismissed-Minnesota Public Radio reported Friday that federal Judge Donovan Frank dismissed the challenge to same-day registration from two conservative groups and seven individuals, who contended that ineligible voters cast ballots in 2008 and 2010.
Frank's ruling found that no federal laws were broken and the groups failed to unearth misconduct or fully pursue their case in state courts.

I really think that the Republicans are going to take a bath. Polls just don't measure levels of enthusiasm.

(11,175 posts)What I infer from the linked story is that the state legislature balanced the interests in same-day registration: facilitating voters by eligible voters, versus the possibility of fraud. The legislature decided to give more weight to the former. Instead of following the democratic process of trying to elect different legislators who would repeal the law, the conservatives wanted an unelected judge to do it.
