2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBernie's Revolution
People rise up and elect a President the media and their corporate overlords don't endorse - one they fear.
The House and Senate are overturned by a huge majority.
America shifts to the benefit of Americans over International Corporations.
Lives of all Americans improve.
---
It's there in the math. The money to make this happen is available if we change our priorities. People over war. People over profit.
That is what Bernie is talking about.
Corporations should prosper but, people need to be the priority.
America for and about Americans.
All Americans.

(4,879 posts)Yet, right here on DU, some will and/or have sold out the majority of the people for their own comfort.
They remind me of the Reagan Democrats.

(94,548 posts)Are you suggesting that anyone here would vote for the Republican in 2016?
Or (more likely is my guess), one of the Democratic candidates isn't a "real" Democrat?

(17,796 posts)you really seem to be in mid-season form right now. Playing at the top of your game....
in other words, thanks for the laugh. I need that.

(5,668 posts)there is no denying the fact on record Hillary is a Fiscal Conservative. real Democrat or not.. I dropped those names long ago. I'll vote for the Liberal candidate if I can. or at least as far left as I can and thats not Hillary. and yes he does seem to wear a hair piece but compared to Ben Carson he's like on the lowest rung.. ie yall can say kudos to Collin Powell all you want but when one of us decides to do the same one gets dirt thrown. then the provocation above comes out

(41 posts)this country IS socialistic.
In addition to the stuff like social security, Medicare, police departments, the military, etc.
there's the seemingly unlimited amounts of public dollars that go to private industry in the form of tax loopholes, offshore accounts, so-called free trade, loans, grants, etc.
that is the kind of corporate socialism that HRC supports too

(94,548 posts)You claim the House and Senate can be flipped; have you looked at the current candidates, and do they meet your exacting political standards? And if not, how are you going to replace them with so little time left?

(32,886 posts)Shame really, but it's what I expected from Sanders supporters.
They willfully reject any fact or reality that is not to their liking and operate as if they don't matter.
But they do.

(83,758 posts)Do I believe he is a pacifist? His words prove that wrong. He was a CO because he didn't want to be sent to war. Yet he stated recently that he would send others if need be and would continue the use of drones. I don't think you all can have it both ways.
beam me up scottie
(57,349 posts)No one is trying to have it both ways, he's not a pacifist, he believes military force should be used as a last resort.
In Iraq it wasn't.

(4,775 posts)so we don't have to pay for their oil at their prices over here. Or something like that, it's more about profits for oil co's, and for keeping the fossil fuel spickets flowing, than about keeping prices down.
Solar, wind, ag reform to reduce greenhouse gasses, bring the military home and launch a massive energy retooling program to fight climate change. We are part of the problem in the middle east, not part of the solution, and it's costing us a fortune and our planet's future. Enough.
WHEN CRABS ROAR
(3,813 posts)Now is the time for a real progressive populist movement, but the message needs to be clear and not overly complex and it needs to be repeated over and over to drive it home into the minds of the people.
Then Bernie will win.
tecelote
(5,122 posts)He has the same message as when he was Mayor.
Similar to what you said, if the average American can understand it, they will see it is in their best interest.

(12,882 posts)who has voted for what while in office. The ONLY thing to note and track is WHO is getting their money from WHOM. That's it! No gender, no color, no religious inclination, nada...... Just who is putting up the money and what might they expect from the recipient once they achieve office? It's as easy as pouring water out of a boot!

(12,081 posts)I found out last night I will most likely have to participate in a caucus in order to vote for Bernie. Caucuses can be horrible experiences. You don't have a secret ballot, and other people get to try and bully you into voting for their candidate instead of the candidate you want to vote for. I am willing to go through it in order to vote for Bernie, but I think we are going to have to come up with a game plan if we want to convince people who already don't vote to be willing to go through such an abusive process in order to get a higher voter turnout.

Great post and if this truly Bernie Sanders ' battle cry, then its persuasive for those like me who believe our foreign policy has been a disaster
