Oy... Fucking... Vey... Will Clinton Follow Suit ???

Shortly before midnight, House Republicans posted the text of the 144-page bill, which was labeled a “discussion draft” but appeared to reflect the tentative agreement as described by congressional aides throughout the day.

The agreement would raise spending by $80 billion over two years, not including a $32 billion increase included in an emergency war fund. Those increases would be offset by cuts in spending on Medicare and Social Security disability benefits, as well as savings or revenue from an array of other programs, including selling oil from the nation’s strategic petroleum reserves. The Medicare savings would come from cuts in payments to doctors and other health care providers.

The $80 billion increase amounts to little more than 1 percent per year of the nearly $4 trillion annual federal budget, but carries the politically charged significance of breaking through agreed-upon spending caps that Republicans had praised as a rare display of responsible cost-control and Democrats criticized as a wrongheaded drag on economic growth.

Nonetheless, the deal would represent a major breakthrough after years of gridlock in Congress, especially on fiscal issues, as each side compromised on core issues. It frees Mr. Obama from budget battles as he looks to secure his legacy in the remainder of his second term, and gives clean starts to Mr. Ryan as speaker and to Republicans trying to persuade voters that they can be an effective governing majority.

Every time WE move right, to appease the right, they get even righter, and so do we.

Instead of Single Payer, or even Public Option, we adopt a Republican Backed system that was born of a right-wing think tank, and tested by Mitt Romney.

When Obama takes it on as his own, they move right... arguing death panels, et. al...

And when we Dems are successful... they (R) move even further right.

And like jack-asses we follow suit.

I used to think it was miscalculation... or stupidity...

Now... I think it's the plan.

This is what Bernie said:

“But I will support it because it’s much better than across-the-board budget cuts, increased premiums for Medicare, cuts to Social Security and the constant threat we won’t pay our bills.”

Seems to me that there are NO cuts to SS or Medicare. The article was just BS.

It sure sounded "anti" Obama so I guess those who like to bash him would naturally jump on this, even before checking out any facts.

There is another thread on GD were the title was about Obama throwing SS and Medicare under the bus. I keep kicking it up so those posters have a chance to issue their heart felt apologies, but for some strange reason not one has issue such an apology. I am sure they will in time. Right?

In any event, Clinton, not currently seated in Congress, doesn't have a vote on this matter.

Sanders does.

Funny as hell, this OP.

Obama's worried about his "legacy" so he cuts Social Security benefits for people with DISABILITIES? Are you effing kidding me? Wow. Just WOW! If this isn't proof something needs to change in Washington, I don't know what does.

Oh, he'll have a "legacy" alright - TPP, XL PIPELINE, playing nice with Teabaggers for the first 4 years in office and NOW, cutting SS benefits for DISABLED people! Disgusting. Like their lives aren't hard enough! Here, let me, a DEMOCRATIC president, take more away from you. You haven't suffered enough. Shameful. Absolutely shameful.

that ANY Democrat /Progressive would vote to cut benefits for disabled people!
While our government Subsidizes BIG OIL, BIG AG, BIG PHARMA - who all makes Billions of dollars in profits every DAY and turn around and take money from disabled people is CRIMINAL.
And I won't even start on all the fucking wars they start, the cost if those and all the money the MIC gets!

I refuse to defend anyone voting for this deal. It's WRONG.

You go ahead and tell yourself this is moral, I know better and it all happens under a HOPE AND CHANGE Democratic President which makes it even more disgusting!

if we support Bernie we support every single thing he does. Why do they think this? Well, the past (and present) show us why.

I have no problem supporting him but like you I think this stinks. I certainly do not feel the need to defend him on it, why would I? I can still support him for the majority of things I think he is right on. NOBODY is going to be perfect but he is the closest to it for me.

Since when are we supposed to be 100% with anybody? That is the attitude that has always disturbed me and caused so many problems here.

I'm not going to defend Bernie just because he's the guy I want to be President.

And for this deal to be passing under a Democratic President makes me sick to my stomach. The Democrats have become THEM!
