Longshoremen latest labor group endorsing Clinton candidacy
International Longshoremen's Association latest labor union to endorse Hillary Clinton
Associated Press By Bill Barrow, Associated Press
1 hour ago
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Hillary Rodham Clinton has another endorsement from a major labor group in her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.
The latest nod comes from the International Longshoremen's Association and its 60,000-plus members in the maritime industry. Clinton is celebrating the endorsement Saturday at a local ILA union hall in Charleston, South Carolina.
The former secretary of state has started to get more organized labor support since coming out against the Obama administration's Trans-Pacific Partnership deal. That trend is a blow to her closest rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders.
The Vermont senator draws enthusiastic crowds as he praises the working class and rails against corporate greed. But labor leaders have been slow to back him formally...............

(42,779 posts)Look, I'd rather these endorsements go to Sanders than Hillary. But in the end, getting out voters who have stayed on the sidelines will be what moves the Sanders' candidacy forward more than endorsements.
But in the end, if you really hope Bernie gets the nomination, you better hope that those who endorsed Clinton work their asses off for Sanders.
And dissing every individual or group that endorses Clinton as corrupt or a sell-out or whatever is not going to make it easy to bring them on board if Sanders is the nominee.
Robbins
(5,066 posts)Sanders supporters have been called sexists or racists or both.Calling them centrists and corporists is mild and backed up by
evidance.Clinton is corporist,centrist,pro-war.and those who support her must also be.and for now i am only putting dem politicans
and union leaders who endorse her in that camp.the primarys will show if democratic voters support the centrists, the corporists, and
neocons.
onenote
(42,779 posts)attacked, I'd post the same message -- Clinton supporters should remember that they're going to need Sanders' supporters in the general if she gets the nomination.
But this wasn't that thread, so I focused on what was going on in this thread.
What I can't tell from your post is whether or not you think that alienating parts of the party is a good idea.

(711 posts)I'm voting for Hillary. However, I've loved Bernie Sanders for years. He's great! If he's our nomination, I'll be a little disappointed, but I'll also be proud to vote and work for Bernie. I think the majority of involved Democrats feel the same. As much as I love checking in with DU, it's doesn't truly represent the Democratic Party as a whole. Holding on to the White House, defeating the Republicans in 2016, is the goal most of us have in sight.

(12,655 posts)we keep seeing this throughout the campaign. The Board of Directors or the union bosses give their endorsement, but many of the members end up supporting another candidate. All it means is that the upper echelon continues to support Hillary, no news there.
