I just watched the president in Las Vegas and I've never seen the secret service so close to him. I understand why, and I hope it stays that way. Lot of nut jobs out there.

Too many extremists out there, preaching hate, calling Obama an enemy that hates America... even judges musing about joining armed insurrection if he gets re-elected... death threats and arrests (latest in WA state). The Secret Service has probably never seen this level of nationwide tension. They do an amazing job. I'm actually surprised that there hasn't already been an attempt on the President's life. So many nutjobs out there with guns.

.. I forcefully tell them that in all my time on various boards like these, I have never seen ONE person call for that (I can't even type the word) on anyone.. including Bush/Cheney. Ever. The only time anyone came close to that on DU, the were immediately alerted, and called out, and was most likely a troll.

That is not what we're about. No matter how putrid a candidate or official may be, they are also a father/son/mother/aunt, etc. And this political stuff is their JOB. I never lose site of that. I don't eat meat, but I don't go around threatening butchers at the grocery store.
