Bernie Sanders collects candy with his grandchildren in New Hampshire

Bernie Sanders collects candy with his grandchildren in New Hampshire
John Wagner
Washington Post

The Democratic presidential hopeful spent about 20 minutes trick or treating here Saturday night with three of his grandchildren, who joined him a few miles away from the site of an earlier campaign rally that drew more than 1,000 people.

The senator from Vermont dressed as himself. Grayson, 9, was the Abominable Snowman. Ryleigh, 10, was Sonic the Hedgehog. And Sunnee, 12, was the White Witch from “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.”

All three were adopted from China by Levi Sanders and his wife, Raine Riggs, who live in nearby Claremont, N.H. Sanders’s son often joins him on the campaign trail and sometimes serves as his driver when he’s stumping in the nation’s first presidential primary state.

As Saunders and his entourage made their way among houses in the vicinity of a downtown park, he paused several times for handshakes and photos with well-wishers — but didn’t actively seek them out.

“It’s amazing to see you out here. I was shocked,” said one man.

“I’m trick or treating, you know,” Sanders replied matter-of-factly.

I'm sure there's a legitimately funny joke in here somewhere about the redistribution of candy.

The way most of us spent it, out with our children or giving out candy.
I have to wonder if Hill did anything but the photo-op with Mini-she. It's adorable, but....yeah, way to capitalize and keep campeiging instead of celebrating the holiday.

I didnt, nor would i. I do see it as opportunistic though. Do you have an attribution for your claim? Did he manage to arrange meetings with mini-bernies?

That's a ridiculous claim to make, you're implying that she only cares about photo OPs and that only Sanders does these things without any political forethought.Do you think the media just happened to stumble upon Sanders out with his grandchildren? Of course he used it as a photo OP,he's a politician running for president, just like Hillary.

Disembly (I didn't call her evil but you're going to say I have anyway), no link for your claim, and only 'she's a politician, they both are!' Typical..
Ok Skippy, back to your candy.

I just got done reading that Bernie doesn't mingle with people or shake their hands.

He does; he's just quieter about it.

Eating candy, walking ahead sure the kids were following and making small talk. No helicoptering, now ooh and ahhing. Just like a grandpa.

I loved it.

I loved the old guys at the house...ahh.

He looks like a great grandpa. I hope they had a good time.

Hillary and her mini-me were adorable too.

I see no reason to turn their Halloween activities into an opportunity to bash either of these great Democratic candidates.
