While voting this morning (Northern VA) I ran into a college-aged Sanders supporter

Last edited Tue Nov 3, 2015, 01:25 PM - Edit history (1)

working on a petition to get him on the ballot in the state. I was the first guy to sign his petition and told him that I didn't think Sanders had enough organization in the state to get on the ballot. He admitted I might be right and that when he went to a Sander's organizing meeting, only 6 people showed up. He blurted out that he was more anti-HRC than pro-Sanders and Ms. FSogol chastised him. He eventually sheepishly admitted he'd (probably) vote for the Democratic nominee no matter who it was.

To get on the ballot in VA, you need 200 signatures from each Congressional District. The O'Malley campaign began this process in September.

I guess there really is a difference between running a State-wide race vs a national campaign.

What happened to his Manassas crowds.

any serious attempt to properly train and organize it's volunteers. By this time in 2007,the Obama campaign was an organizing machine.

That is becoming woefully clear.

Politics involves knocking on a lot of doors at a neighborhood level. Advocating on the web isn't a good substitute.

the large people out everywhere taking to people. All that needs a lot of money.

And then there is the large tv buys before the primaries. That is why it is hard for the non-anointed one to make any headway.

In 1992 Clinton has the Arkansas machine to push it through.

In 2008 Obama had the Chicago machine to do their thing.

I assume this year that the Chicago group will be behind HRC to get people out. Now if Bernie can get the kids to early vote or absentee vote instead of going to the polls, that could change everything.

I think HRC wants to come to town to do it herself like the Huckster did yesterday. At least they are buying local jet fuel in Little Rock.

from south Arkansas. When I left El Dorado, more corporate jets flew in and out of there than Little Rock.

I think they had a 737 also, although probably replaced with a Citation now. Conagra had 2 flights a day coming through. Several surgeons had small jets also. Probably most have moved to LR because of flight servicing and just flown to ELD when needed. But Murphy had their own flight service people there since they flew all over the world.

I think some are learning that large crowds, in the internet age, does not translate into volunteers.

My SIL lives in NOVA and has been collecting signatures for Bernie for months, I know that the goal is to collect twice as many as needed to have a cushion for disallowed signatures.
