(15,438 posts)He says that again and again and again. He's never called himself a Social Democrat, because he knows that would be lying.
Democratic Socialist just means Socialist. I'm not a Socialist. I'm a Social Democrat, just like the Democratic Party.

He is a Russian drafted to fight against Napoleon's army. When he questions why he should serve, his commander asks him, "You don't want to be forced to eat those rich, creamy sauces, do you?" I am paraphrasing from memory, but it was something like that.

Do I have to register as a Democrat, Republican, Independent or some other party in Vermont?
No. There is no party registration in Vermont.
All registered voters can vote in the primary electionbut can only vote on one ballot. You will be given a ballot for each of the major parties. You mark one of the ballots and put the remaining unvoted ballots into a discard bin. Which ballot you chose to vote is private and not recorded (except during the presidential primary, where voters must publicly take one ballot or the other, and their choice is recorded on the entrance checklist).

(30,058 posts)If you can debunk the number of people dying in the US from gun violence then it will not be a problem.
Clinton has lots of foreign experience and is ready on day one to handle international issues. Sanders does not have foreign experience and he will not be able to overcome this problem by the first primary.
The polls currently is not giving Sanders enough votes to get the required delegates needed to arrive at the nomination. More thinks Clinton is the better choice.
Sanders is much too far left for me. In talking to others they feel the same.
Increasing the income tax by even .2% is placing an extra burden on the same people he claims to be helping.
The programs Sanders is proposing is not offset by a way to pay for his programs, can't cover the cost of his programs.

For what it is worth seems like only a handful of posters push that. They are pretty loud though.

(28,270 posts)The long, troubled history of Bernie Sanders and the 'ideologically bankrupt' party whose White House nod he now seeks.
By MICHAEL KRUSE and MANU RAJU August 10, 2015
"You dont change the system from within the Democratic Party.
My own feeling is that the Democratic Party is ideologically bankrupt.
We have to ask ourselves, Why should we work within the Democratic Party if we dont agree with anything the Democratic Party says?
Bernie Sanders, everybodythe same Bernie Sanders who is running to become the Democratic Partys candidate for president of the United States.

(7,661 posts)and the Third Way's Bill Daley agrees....
"You would be back to 1972 [if Bernie were nominated]," warned Bill Daley, President Barack Obama's former chief of staff and a Third Way board member, referencing the blowout Richard Nixon win that year. "It was not a happy time for Democrats. The guy has been a socialist his whole life and now decides he is a Democrat and therefore the Democratic Party has got to move to that extreme? I think it is a recipe for disaster."
