2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI want EVERYONE to give me a report!
Alright, I think this will be fun.
So, regarding REAL LIFE POLITICAL SWAG, (merchandise) WHAT and how much of it have you witnessed?
You may include yourself in the quantity of 1.
Basically, no headlines no polls, I want to hear what YOUVE SEEN WITH YOUR OWN EYES WHERE YOU LIVE.
For example, and I'll go first...
I have a Bernie bumper sticker and yard sign that are out daily.
As for others: I've witnessed 3 Bernie Bumper stickers in my area.
I have seen NO OTHER candidates merhandise. No Hillary, no Trump (thank god) no nothin'.
BONUS: I attended a Bernie rally in my area that was 4000 people over capacity.
What about you?

(19,460 posts)And I live in rural red as you can get Kentucky. No signs in my neck of the woods as they are not allowed............litter and all that stuff is why we don't allow them around the lake. If the lazy people who put them up would take them down when the election is over I might have a Hillary one in front of my lake drive but I like green living and no paper crap in my woodlands. Lots of Hillary bumper stickers though.

Out in the wild, 3 or 4 Bernie bumper stickers so far.
1 Hillary sticker in the wild, 1 Trump sticker in the wild.

I've seen one Carson sticker and one Trump sticker.

(22,871 posts)I'm not kidding. How hard is it to remove old bumper stickers?
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)recognition, or the cars or so old that they're not even roadworthy any longer. (But I do recall seeing them as recently as 2010.)
I'm not a big bumper-sticker kind of person. I'm of the opinion that most people don't make up their minds by counting the number of times that they see a candidate's name on a sticker. I often feel like bumper stickers are less of "Yay for My Candidate" and more of a "Screw You Other Guy" message.
Besides, I'm not inclined to make my vehicle or my home a target for the angry "other guy" supporters.

Someone made their own Bernie sign and put it in a yard on a street close to my house.
I saw a Ben Carson bumper sticker on a car driving to work the other day.
That's all I remember seeing

(34,845 posts)So far as politics go, the interesting take-away from work is how little I hear about politics in general but the GOP specifically. My feeling is that the GOP has run its course with the usual worshipers and there is a slow wave change afoot.

(8,561 posts)I see quite a few Bernie buttons, including one worn by our Mayor.
I haven't seen any Hillary anything yet, but I live in the poor side of town, shop at the food co-op, etc., hang out when I can at the town's progressive coffee shop, so my data is skewed.

(22,271 posts)But then again, we've been giving out free signs, bumper stickers and buttons at our Bernie events (the campaign sent us a box of free goodies). I've seen one yard sign for "We're ready for Hillary." Nothing for the Republicans.

(11,197 posts)Two Bernie yard signs (not mine although I have one), three Bernie bumper stickers (including one of my own), one Hillary bumper sticker, and three Ben Carson bumper stickers. I have yet to see any other Presidential candidate signs or stickers beyond these. I am surprised, given this area, that I have not seen ANY Trump stuff, but it's still early.

Often seen on cars: Ron Paul by far takes it and has for the last ten years in this area. Obama is a clear number two on bumper stickers. Clinton third, I've seen a couple dozen. I saw my first Sanders sticker in a parking lot the other day. I expect to see plenty more Sanders ones. He is just being introduced to Floridians.
I have seen no yard sings at all unless you count the painted sheet of plywood down the road from me calling for a flat tax and for Paul to save the day.
Top two bumper stickers one sees around here: Salt Life takes the lead. Coexist is a close second.

(30,481 posts)over a sticker that promotes being outdoors? So many of us love our Salt Life. It's why the brand took off. I can't believe no one came out with them earlier in a mass produced manner.

(30,481 posts)They sell all kinds of different stickers that say "Salt Life" along with other products. In Florida it is by far the most used sticker on cars/trucks. It's pretty amazing how many of them are out there. I have numerous shirts from them. Seems family thinks it's all a Floridian would ever want for Christmas.

I kept an Elizabeth Warren bumper sticker on my car until earlier this year when I got rid of the car.
As for incidents for this this year, not many yard signs or stickers for either yet. In terms of personal encounters,Mixed between Bernie and Clinton but those who are for Bernie are definitely enthusiastically for him.

(26,451 posts)I've seen a couple of others, no Hillary stickers yet, a few Trump and a Few Carson.

(23,631 posts)It's a majority-Dem area but there are still quite a few Republicans around. My friend has a nice new Bernie sticker on her car, but other than that I haven't seen much in the way of political messaging for this election cycle so far.
I did see someone driving around with a Ben Carson sticker the other day.
It's too troubling to see that a whacko doctor and a egocentric megalomaniac may become the Republican party's top representatives... Yikes.

(15,429 posts)A GOP pundit was certain Romney was going to win on election day in 2012.
Why?
She saw nothing but Romney yard signs in her neighborhood.
Anecdotal evidence is insignificant and irrelevant to anything.

(10,345 posts)I'm one of those that don't care.
This OP is only asking people what they've seen.
Why you keep bringing up polls is a bit revealing of a knee jerk defensive reaction...
So... Why so defensive? lol

(2,328 posts)Since I started paying attention, I've seen mostly Bernie bumper stickers in my neck of the woods. I would estimate the ratio of Bernie bumper stickers I've seen to Hillary stickers to be about 7 to 1.
My neighbor has a Bernie sticker next to his Obama Biden sticker on his car.
I've also seen at least a couple Bernie stickers on lap tops.
FWIW, I live in a very liberal university town.
I haven't seen any republican paraphernalia yet. Other than some old Romney Ryan stickers.
My state's primary is in May.
