Everytime I see an anti Hillary or anti Bernie thread - get turned off and tune out

One of these people will be the Democratic nominee so attacking them, knocking them down and degrading them only hurts the Democratic changes next year.

If you can't post facts about the candidate with links to back those facts up, then don't post it. DU needs to regain some of its credibility. At one time, if you couldn't back up a statement here, you were called out, now all you need is a little luck with a jury if it even goes that far and you can post any slander you want.

It makes DU suck, especially the personal attacks. GD.P has become substantially a toxic waste dump.

Grow up, people, and become part of the solution, to elect Democrats, and not part of the problem, horrible infighting.

Find something gracious to say. Fortunately, there are still many here who get that. See how it works?

As I predicted as well, my phone is ringing off the hook. I had a TV appearance today, will preview the debate on Cavuto tomorrow, will give a pre debate speech at a large gathering tomorrow and have a number of appearance requests later in the week, all due to my internet buzz meter being raised. So not only did the folks who hoped to hurt me fail, I'm very much helped by their efforts.

follow their elections with vastly different policy prescriptions. These are not small differences, either. These are big philosophical differences. This differences will likely wind up being between austerity based solutions and social safety-net stimulative solutions. I agree. On social issues we aren't really going to see too much difference between the two, but on issues of economics, labor, international interventions, trade policy, social safety net, our relationship to authority and state actor accountability (police brutality, tactics, and targets), etc the differences are stark. We NEED to talk about THESE issues. THESE differences matter. THESE differences will mean life or death for people.

No, we need not stop pointing out differences. We need to deconstruct and examine these candidate's political theory and we need to point out why and where they are left wanting. We really don't have much time so we need to point these differences and their consequences out aggressively enough that they grab attention of voters. And mostly we need to stop trying to front the idea that these candidates are equal in any way.

I know Bernie said Hillary would be vastly better than any republican. Ok. Fine. But would she be relatively equal to Bernie? I think not. We can count the ways, but not if the call continues to be that there isn't much difference between the two.

Now if you're talking about people who comment on hair or bugeyes or call other candidates murders, etc. . .

Well there I am with you.

Mon Nov 9, 2015, 11:24 AM
Nov 2015

You will probably hear similar things with people you come into contact with in person over the next year. If you're candidate is attacked on DU, post a brief (usable at the water cooler) response to rebut it. No mater who your candidate is, read the threads to learn how to rebut attacks in a polite but brief way without attacking the other poster (and be able to follow up with longer arguments if necessary).

DU is a valuable tool and even attack threads can be good learning. If everyone just wants to feel safe on DU (hide, ignore, etc) it becomes much less useful as a tool to help with people who really matter - friends/associates/etc who are wavering on who to vote for or whether to vote a year from now.

What's the difference between the Religion group and the Interfaith group? Very little except no negative posts are allowed in the Interfaith group.

If you want GD-P to have as few posts as the Interfaith group just put in a rule that no negative posts are allowed.

Politics is about compromise between conflicting points of view, conflicting agendas, if conflict is not allowed then compromise will never be reached.

51. It's kind of funny, the Religion group spawned the Interfaith group
Mon Nov 9, 2015, 10:48 PM
Nov 2015

The religious posters in the Religion group claimed they needed a protected group to get away from the evil atheists who were constantly harassing them by pointing out how their arguments were flawed and they agitated for quite some time to get the protected Interfaith group so they could have their nice positive discussions about Religion free of atheist disagreement.

Well, you see how that worked out, the protected group is a ghost town while the original fractious Religion group with the evil atheists just kept steaming along with several dozen posts every single day.

What a lot of people don't seem to grasp is that DU is a business, a business based mostly on clicks, banning negative posts from GD-P would cut down severely on clicks and would therefore of course have an adverse effect on the owner's finances.

So by advocating no negative posts in GD-P you are threatening Skinner, Earl G and Elad with a drastic loss of income, is that any way to treat the people who bring us DU?
