McCaskill: Sanders has made Clinton a better candidate

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) said Monday that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is molding front-runner Hillary Clinton into the best possible Democratic presidential candidate.

“Bernie’s challenge has made Hillary a better candidate,” she told host Chris Cuomo on CNN’s “New Day.”

“It has made her stronger and more aggressive,” McCaskill added. "I have said an awful lot of good things about Bernie Sanders and the good work he is doing for America.”

McCaskill said she is endorsing Clinton rather than Sanders because the Vermont lawmaker "has not identified as a Democrat."

"He identifies as a socialist," she added. "The problem is in a state like mine it is very hard for voters to get past that."

I know the speech Bernie Sanders was going to give on Democratic Socialism has been pushed back. Now he "may" give it in Iowa after the next debate. His Strategist wants him to give the speech but what I've read is that Senator Sanders isn't too keen on it now, citing his busy schedule and not having the time to finish the speech.

Kind of like how a primary opponent would have made Obama a better candidate in 2012? HerbChestnut Nov 2015 #2

Clinton a better candidate, because so far, she has been lackluster at best on policy.

I haven't been involved actively that long. Started with Carter then got really involved with President Bill Clinton. But... I can honestly say I've never seen a candidate/campaign this aggressive.... ever. I think that Senator Sanders has had a positive influence on it, to his credit.

When all the smoke finally clears I think it will be a well-earned feather in the cap of Senator Sanders.

I'm done with this perpetual Snark Fest so you'll have to find someone else to fling shit at.

Of all the things you could post you choose a comment from a decades long supporter of a candidate that is a back-handed slap with a comment dripping with "red scare" McCarthyism fearmongering "my voters fear the socialist devil come to steal their freedum!"

You may not have seen it that way but is the way she meant it.

And McCaskill is one of the worst of a poor lot.

"In a state like mine it is very hard for voters to get past that". My ass. We've all learned what goes on in her state and it ain't pretty. I doubt that any Democrat has much of a chance there.
