FORMER MARYLAND governor Martin OMalley is a small-timer when it comes to the fees he demands for speaking engagements, at least compared with Hillary Clinton, his rival for the Democratic presidential nomination. Nonetheless, Mr.?OMalley has been stepping up his game, specifically by striking a deal with a tech company that benefited from a sizeable no-bid state contract when he was governor and which then paid him nearly $148,000 for speeches and consulting in the months after he left office in January.
The appearance of a quid pro quo is not the biggest problem facing Mr. OMalley, who remains stuck near zero in the polls among Democratic primary voters. Still, the payment his single largest chunk of current income while not illegal, is troubling.

Hmm... it seems that O'Malley really had a thing for no bid contracts while in Maryland. There is the State Center, the farmland lease deal for $1 .......

Why not just post positive things about the person you want to win the nomination, or is that asking to much?

old article/good response:
Letters to the Editor
Casting illogical aspersions at Martin OMalley
July 27
I was puzzled by the sly illogic of the July 24 editorial Mr. OMalleys money. Esri, which has paid former Maryland governor Martin OMalley (D) for speeches, provides a service that would clearly enhance the data-driven analytical process that has become synonymous with Mr.?OMalleys name and reputation as a mayor and a governor who got things done. Esri had years in which to become familiar with Mr. OMalleys expertise and innovative approach in this field; it seems logical that the company would value his services and wish to offer a contract to secure them before someone else did close to the end of his term as governor, which would be the logical time. Yet, notwithstanding the editorials disclaimers as to any accusation of illegal action, it said, theres the appearance of a payback. Listing the combined salaries of the governor and his wife what is nearly $300,000? Is it $250,000 or $275,000? the amount they borrowed to educate two of their children, their line of credit and the mortgage on their house is akin to Donald Trump revealing Lindsey Grahams private cellphone number. Shame.

...you're way out of your league with this old article which is a darling of his republican critics in my state. It's almost as if I'm reading one of the conservative rags they give away here.
