2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI hope Paris doesn't hijack tonight's debate.
It's a terrible thing that happened, and I can't imagine the pain of the surviving loved ones - but -
we should stay focused on other things that we can do something about -
like how many Americans killed with guns so far this year
like how many Americans are working multiple jobs and just not getting by
like how many Americans are strapped with student loans
like an onrushing climate crisis

I think if it were strategic to the MIC, they would work this into the game schedule.

not sure why you mean by "hijack"?

(14,915 posts)...the war continues. I know Bernie's domestic ideas, i know Hillary's a hawk. I need to hear what Bernie would do as CiC when it comes to issues like this. Same with O'Malley.

If that happens, there needs to be another debate scheduled to discuss domestic policy.

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
The title of this thread is absolutely insensitive and totally inappropriate. To politicize the Paris attacks in this manner is disgusting.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sat Nov 14, 2015, 12:26 PM, and the Jury voted 0-7 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: This post in no way politicized the Paris attacks. It just acknowledged that as terrible as they were, there are other threats and challenges at least as serious as those posed by terrorism.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Not hide-worthy
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: OP is really crass, but I don't see that it violates the TOS in any way.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: As a comment it's mostly benign. As an OP it is a somewhat tangential point of discussion. There is a line between making a controversial point versus an overtly disruptive...statement. For me, this OP doesn't approach that line. Perhaps the OP should have used "dominate" versus "hijack." Still not worth a hide.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I don't agree with the OP but I feel this is a valid topic to talk about if people want to talk about it.
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

Edit: I'll leave the OP as is because I think it's not proper to conceal my mistakes.

(16,916 posts)the amount of people watching will undoubtedly increase as frightened voters look to their leaders for direction and inspiration.
National Security is a pertinent topic for Presidential debate.
When do we go to war, and when do we not?
Those of us who have not fought are not immune to the horrific outcomes of how that question is answered.
War has a trickle down affect.

(35,568 posts)Hillary needs to be mercilessly hammered on her war vote for Iraq, for the atrocities in Libya which she's so proud of and Bernie needs to answer some damn questions and start being more specific.
I hope Palestine comes up as well as the other little adventures we're currently involved in. 74 of them, count em folks, 74. I want to hear them talk about their fancy toys like drones.
