Can anyone really imagine Bernie Sanders in the White House?

Wapo opinion piece that seems to get it wrong, even the day of the debate.

Be sure to read the comments. Cheered me right up. Especially this one:

"Ok, I am in Iowa and I have ONE friend supporting Hillary in the caucus. NO one else is. Even my book club of women are all supporting Bernie."

Oh yes, I can imagine Bernie in the White House.

ETA: Let's call this my first OP(although it isn't). I've been a lurker forever and a rare poster more recently. Thanks for all the K&R's!

More recently there were plenty of people who couldn't imagine a black guy with the middle name "Hussein" in the White House.

And, less recently, I think there were people who couldn't imagine a Catholic in the White House.

All these preconceptions about the President's demographics or ideology are valid -- right up until the voters say otherwise.

But before he announced, I was ready to not worry about the bs the candidates on all sides would be spewing for the gear up. I knew most of them wouldn't create possitive change for this country or planet. It would just be varying degrees of bs.

Who could have guessed that a recycled gag could provoke such a critical response? I honestly had no idea that Bernie fans were such delicate little flowers. They seem so aggressive and perfectly capable of dishing it out. Who knew that they couldn't take a little light-hearted needling in return. Oh, my!

I'll be on the lookout for similar admonitions from you toward the Bernie supporters as they clutter their posts with rofl's and lol's. It's reassuring to know that we have people such as yourself to help maintain civility and goodwill. You've certainly got your work cut out for you, and going forward I'm sure that I'll soon be seeing examples of your tenacity.

On the subject of Bernie's fans on DU voting for Hillary, I must admit that I have already accepted the fact that they're a lost cause. It's "Bernie or Bust" and they've made that abundantly clear. It's a fools errand to think that "not lol-ing" at the absurdity will change their mind. Fortunately, despite their beliefs, the percentage of Bernie fans who have gathered her don't represent what exists in real life.

Looking at how impressive Hillary's poll number are (and how dismal and lackluster Bernie's are... not to mention the absence of endorsements) I'm afraid I must confess that whether or not they do, or don't, vote for Hillary is of little concern to me. They'll do as they please, and that's fine. I won't flatter their vanities by trying to convince them to do otherwise, nor will I offer them honey when all they have to offer in return is vinegar.

Thanks for writing to me.

Your friend,
Jackie

What I can't imagine in the White House is another warmongering, corporatist, economic hitperson.

I watched video yesterday of the President getting up in Putin's face. I could see either Hillary or O'Malley taking on such an incalcitrant man, but I cannot imagine Sanders dealing with him or any of the tougher actors on the world stage. Just can't.

Bernie just doesn't inspire confidence in his negtiation and adminstrative abilities when dealing with international leaders.

What a refreshing change it would be.

But I just wish to gawd the Hillary supporter's would wake up and see it would be the same ol crap that Obama disappointed us with. This is no time to be selfish only wanting the first female president.

There has to be some common sense behind it. So far she hasn't shown that other than doing a "Copy and Paste" of Bernie's proposals.

I read the first 60 or so, and every single one of them pushed back hard. I don't think there has ever been such uniformity of comments on a MSM blog or op-ed. Just incredible.
