UnitedHealth Group may pull out of the Affordable Care Act Exchanges

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/united-health-exit-obamacare-exchanges_564dd75de4b00b7997f9585b?utm_hp_ref=politics

This is just another reason why we need to do away with the private health insurance industry. Simply put, it's an industry that doesn't work for consumers, period.

A universal healthcare system is the way forward, and the sooner we adopt one the sooner we can get our poor and sick the care they deserve.

IIRC, there was some clause which could supposedly allow the govt to step I and offer a public option. However, I can't remember what the details/triggers were.

Serious question.

Single payer only had 8 votes in 2010 according to Bernie.

How can we suddenly get 51 votes in the Senate when the Senate has even more Republicans now than in 2010?

We could have better luck fixing ObamaCare like Hillary wants to. Hillary's plan could happen, Bernie's plan is a pipe dream. It doesn't matter what we want.

as oppose to doing something that hasn't got a chance in hell... in the foreseeable future. Bernie wants to turn health care over to the states which is a scary prospect for us folks living in very very red states.

If what you say is true then we should all just give up hope of ever having universal healthcare, right? You know, the thing every other industrialized country in the world has managed to achieve? Why do you think we haven't gotten universal healthcare yet? I'll tell you this, it isn't because the Republicans don't support it. It's because of attitudes like yours that discourage people from fighting for what they want. You've given up. Hillary's given up. But I haven't, Bernie hasn't, and we're the ones that are going to make it happen. And it will happen sooner if you stand up and help us.

Does that mean you just give up fighting for what you want? If Bernie doesn't win the election do you think I'm going to stop fighting for universal healthcare? If you do, you're part of the reason this country doesn't make real progress.

It's the opposite actually. Bernie isn't going to get elected, but if he did pull it off somehow, he couldn't change anything at all, and I would even bet a Bernie Sanders presidency would set progressivism back a generation. Who would be part of the problem if I'm right.

we won't suddenly get Medicare For All. We'll get exactly what we had in 2008 and before.
