Clinton just isn't progressive enough. This country is fucked up, and we need another FDR.
I will be watching the forum, and I hope more than the 8 million members of Move On will also be watching.

I understand the distraction tactics employed by the many here, so all I will add to this foolish behavior is thanks for the kick!

On Tuesday, November 24th, Hillary Clinton will head to Colorado to mobilize caucus-goers at grassroots events in Boulder and Denver in order to help build support ahead of the March 1st Colorado Caucuses. During the events, Clinton will discuss the issues that keep Coloradans up at night and how shell address them as president.

(24,411 posts)...She tanks in the polls. Just as she is doing now in Iowa.
Her "inevitability", the entire framework on which her incompetent campaign is built--totally collapses when she has to engage with her opponents.
The only way she can preserve her flimsy support--is to stay out of the limelight and only participate in debates that are scheduled infrequently and on Saturday nights.
Oh my is she transparent.
This will look very bad for her, . But she's betting that it won't be as bad as two hours of the nation listening to her extoll the virtues of Wall Street, endless war in the Middle East and rip into a single-payer healthcare system (which most Democrats support).
This is going to be fantastic not having her there. She'll make herself more irrelevant and her numbers will soften further.
I bet she changes her mind and decides that can do her grocery shopping some other night, after all.

(1,464 posts)Not surprised by Hillary. She thinks she has the primary sewn up and is moving right as fast as she can.

(3,373 posts)she fears that she has not locked down the nomination (a fear that her supporters here are either -1- overcompensating to hide or -2- oblivious about).
If confidence in the Clinton campaign outweighed fear, she would be using this forum to distinguish herself from Sanders, O'Malley, and Obama as part of her general election strategy.
Skipping this forum betrays the outward facade of inevitability.

(2,760 posts)If her campaign didn't feel they had the nomination locked down, then they would attend the event. Instead, she is beginning to shift into GE mode.
I suppose you could say she's trying to loom inevitable as a way to hide the fact that she's in trouble, but that would be a ridiculous strategy that would essentially be repeating the mistakes of 2008. Hillary might be a lot of things, but she's not dumb.
Just to be clear, I'm not saying her campaign is correct in their thinking, but it's clear to me which way she's moving.

(3,373 posts)has been won prepares its players for the next game by practicing new plays and defenses.
Clinton skipping the debate is like taking a knee to run out the clock as halftime approaches. She's scared of a fumble. I team that believes the game has been won already is not scared its quarterback will fumble the ball.

(2,760 posts)tries to score more points. You play prevent defense and vanilla offense when you have a comfortable lead; you make the clock your friend.

(10,056 posts)She is skipping an opportunity for national exposure to progressives and liberals in the party for primary electioneering in one state.
Not the other way around.

(2,760 posts)Last time, it was all about her national poll numbers, her campaign wasn't focused on the process of acquiring delegates. It's completely the opposite this time around, she's building her organization in all the early states, and the other campaigns don't have the resources to compete.

(900 posts)She did not attend Net Roots
She is not attending Moveon forum
Yet her supporters call her progressive, so the triangulation bullshit is coming out and she want to alienate liberals

(10,056 posts)Why is Clinton avoiding these events?
It looks bad and seems very short sighted.
It smacks of hubris.

(35,639 posts)...and probably figures that participating in these events will give the events more coverage and thereby give her opponents more coverage.
It's the same reason DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz wants few debates and some of them on weekends when fewer people watch. To help Hillary Clinton.

(10,056 posts)But it could kill her with progressives and liberals, a major part of Democratic constituency.
It just seems very short sighted.

(24,411 posts)Any progressive/liberal in the Democratic party is voting for Bernie. She knows that there is no way to compete with him for liberal support.
She's in total groundhog mode: Stay underground for as long as possible and only poke your head out when it's absolutely necessary. Then, retreat underground after doing what needs to be done.
She's solely relying on the centrist/DLC factions of Democrats in each state.
She really took some hits with her debate performance a couple of weeks ago at Drake University in Des Moines. She's hiding.
Plus, the possible negatives of her stumbling or further eroding her support during the Moveon Forum--totally outweigh the positives of keeping herself hidden behind canned speeches and heavily scripted events.
She's simply trying to hang on to what she has now.
We all saw the recent CBS Battleground poll. She's behind in NH. She has a 6 point Iowa lead; but she had a 10-point lead in Iowa, this time, in 2008. And she came in third in 2008 and was sitting better pillows then-than she is now.
I bet she drank her breakfast this morning.
