(7,288 posts)You're in Arkansas?
How many working-class pubs in your neighborhood?
Art_from_Ark
(27,247 posts)OilemFirchen
(7,288 posts)Yeah, I've got a brewpub across the street. Six bucks for a 12-oz. Winter Wheat Boysenberry IPA.
I'm guessing you have a different definition of "working-class".
Major Hogwash
(17,656 posts)Winter Wheat Boysenberry IPA??
What the hell is that?
Some watered-down, fruity drink that tastes like someone pissed in a bottle??
Boysenberry??
Who the fuck drinks anything with boysenberry in it?
OilemFirchen
(7,288 posts)So I checked. They do have "Lucky Star R U Hoppy Now".
Also, tapped on premises:
Thin Mint Stout
Up 5th Creek Wheat Wine
Maybe no boysenberries, but I have a feeling it wouldn't hurt...
Art_from_Ark
(27,247 posts)If people from the Walmart warehouses hang out at Beef O'Brady's Pub, does that count?
OilemFirchen
(7,288 posts)I don't think our seminal poster is speaking about Beef O'Brady's.
Here's the bar a block east of me:

A working-class "Nite Club", 'cause you can crash there.
Here's the one another block east:

Not as swank, mind you, but they do have a patio.
Does that help?
Art_from_Ark
(27,247 posts)There might be some places like those in Springdale, like maybe the Dew Drop Inn, but the ones in my neighborhood are new, because public drinking establishments were legalized just a couple of years ago in my county.

(27,787 posts)I've spent a great deal of time in "working class pubs" in my life. And I have never encountered one in which almost everyone was from the same political party.
And this might sound strange to you, but there are lots of "working class" Republicans out there.
So again, maybe you are confused. At least it sounds that way.
But hey, being the political savant that you are, I'm sure you asked them how they felt about Trump, Cruz and Carson.
What did they say when you asked?
Or did you spend the evening explaining to them why they should stay home if Hillary is the nominee?

With some of the resent claims about Sanders winning fifty states it doesn't surprise me someone could read this as a pro Sanders post.

(62,325 posts)in every state. How long ago was that now, months? There have been so many more too since then it's hard to keep up, and Bernie keeps on winning, all of them.
I think I'll post a few others I didn't have time to post since then.
I'll issue a warning first though so that anyone who might be as adversely affected as you and another unfortunate soul here were, can avoid it for the sake of their health.
Seriously it's bad for you to let a few polls get to you like that.

(17,656 posts)One of the guys I work with is telling everyone he knows to vote for Trump!!!
I asked him if he was serious, that he wants Trump to be President.
And he said yes, so I asked him why.
He said "Because Trump will get things done."
Now who does that sound like?
WillyT

(62,325 posts)because 'she'll be easier to beat'. He KNOWS that Bernie is beating him in all the polls. Hillary much weaker in the GE.

(62,325 posts)that we are being flooded with hourly.
All the old conventional wisdom and old style methodologies of polling, are so decades ago.
Trump is resonating only because he doesn't sound like the politicians we have become so accustomed to.
But Bernie is beating him pretty much everywhere.
IF the Dem party wants to win the GE, they need to get behind the guy who can do it for them.

(1,668 posts)The first part, "Hillary Could Be The WORST Thing For The Democratic Party", is because she polls so poorly in the battleground states that her nomination is basically the only way the democrats could lose the general election despite all their structural advantages.
The second part, "Yeah... and that's if she wins!" is a reference to how her center-right positions would disillusion a whole new generation of voters.

(9,770 posts)but some of us have forgotten that. Working class people in Nebraska I talk to think the Democrats are worthless for getting good jobs because they push regulation that kills jobs and they're as corrupt or even more-so than Republicans. They think we only want to help illegal immigrants and homeless. The worst thing is, I don't agree but I can see why they think that. Democratic politicians need to do more to keep good jobs in the U.S. and make sure we are pushing regulation that makes sense. Sorry if this upsets anyone, but I think we are losing our way a little as a party when working people can't tell who's on their side.

(36,392 posts)CLinton might as well be running in the Republican primary. She's in favor of drilling, TPP, SS cuts, for-profit insurance mandates for everyone, charter schools, poverty wages, more war, banks running amok, bigger pentagon budget, ...
The millennials are not going to vote for this shit. They certainly won't join the party led by a flip-flopping weather vane who supports the things in paragraph one. Another wasted opportunity by the party big shots. They keep the insurance and wall street money rolling in, but are turning off literally millions of potential democrats.
