Bernie Sanders STATEMENT On Laquan McDonald

BURLINGTON, Vt. – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Wednesday released the following statement in reaction to the release of police footage of Laquan McDonald’s shooting:

“All Americans should be sickened by the video of Laquan McDonald’s murder. As a nation we must do more than just echo the phrase Black Lives Matter. We must put actions behind those words. Actions that will bring about the fundamental reform that is needed in the face of this crisis. Criminal justice reform must be the civil rights issue of the 21st century and the first piece must be putting an end to the killing of African Americans by police officers.”

“The family of Laquan McDonald and the people of Chicago deserve justice and accountability. As criminal charges proceed in thi scse, we also have to grapple as a country with broader questions about ensuring that all our citizens and communities are protected and respected. The mothers I met recently in Chicago are right: we cannot go on like this. All over America, there are police officers honorably doing their duty, demonstrating how to protect the public without resorting to unnecessary force. We need to learn from and build on those examples. The loss of so many young African Americans taken too soon should reaffirm our commitment to press forward for progress."

that say they are for racial justice. However, they seem to be all over Sen Sanders if they think he isn't giving their cause enough attention. Makes me think that disparaging Sen Sanders is more important than their "cause".

Of course I might be missing some because I have a long ignore list.

She remains ahead almost solely due to the race smears from her campaign. This is basically all they've got, at this point.

All the candidates can and must say more about race. But it has never been true that any major Dem candidate was deficient on this.

(note: I am ONLY speaking about race-appropriation from the HRC campaign. Those who speak out on this issue first and foremost because their own lives are in danger are in an entirely different category).

Either way this isn't about either candidate this about the people whose lives were taken from them, it's murder... Plain and simple.

And it needs to end, not in 2016, but now.

Sen Sanders and promote H. Clinton. If Sanders fails to react quick enough he is disparaged quickly, but when he does respond showing his support for the cause, the anti-Sanders crowd is quiet. Apparently the support of Clinton is more important than the cause.

If we really want to end racism we would be supporting the progressive candidate and not a candidate that is financially supported by those that have fostered this situation. Those that really want to help end racism should vote for Sanders instead of continually attacking him.

of appreciation those threads are ignored like the plague by certain posters. Take for example an unplanned Bernie meeting with Sandra Bland's mother at a restaurant and Bernie saying her name at the debate and nothing else about it and the family going public with that meeting about a week later. That was completely ignored. Hillary's well publicized planned meeting with other families of violence and released by her campaign was praised to high heaven by the same posters who ignored Bernie's actions.. So no, you see that there is racial justice and then there is racial justice. There is a big difference there.

the killing of blacks by police officers needs to end.

We need totaly Independent bodys to investigate.and there needs to be consequenzes for it.even if it is just firing them.and i don't mean they get to resign.Firing would send a message if criminal charges can't be filled.

Progressives have always been fighting for equality, always. Corporations and the billionaires have fostered this culture. They want a race war, they want chaos in the 99% to keep us fighting each other. They support the militarization of local police, they want the drug war and private prison filled with people from the 99%.

Why would a Democrat support this culture? Why support the 1%, Goldman-Sachs, Wall Street and their political puppets??
