***Note the paragraph entitles "Honesty wins"
"Survey respondents chose honest and trustworthy (38 percent) as the leading trait they seek when deciding to support a presidential candidate,...." and nearly 50% chose CLINTON. All these months of calling her a liar did not work!!!
She has been in Iowa a lot--interacted with people face to face during her listening tours and smaller town halls. Her strategy worked.

Clinton, Carson top votes in new Iowa State University/WHO-HD poll, with weeks to go before the Iowa Caucuses
Posted 3 hours ago
AMES, Iowa If the Iowa Caucuses were held this month, 27.2 percent of Republicans likely to attend would support Ben Carson, and 49.5 percent of Democrats likely to attend would favor Hillary Clinton. Thats according to a new Iowa State University/WHO-HD caucus poll out today.
Respondents who said they would probably attend the Democratic caucuses were asked, If you had to decide today, which of the candidates seeking the nomination for president would be your first choice? After Clinton, Bernie Sanders came in a distant second (27.8 percent), dont know third (13.7 percent) and other fourth (6.3 percent).

ISU political scientists weigh in
The contest for the Democratic Partys presidential nomination delegates in Iowa seems to have settled down to being in Hillary Clintons favor, barring some major personal or policy issue arising between now and Feb. 1, said Mack Shelley, University Professor and chair of political science and professor of statistics. Another consideration for the Democratic caucuses is that its not clear at this time whether there could be a surge of support from younger, and particularly first-time, potential caucus attenders, who are likely to support Bernie Sanders. If the Sanders campaign can galvanize young voters and have a strong organization on the ground to get their supporters to the caucuses, the results may look different on Feb. 1. ..................

And now it time to join the final cooking rush.

(42,862 posts)I can't quite figure out why it is that others (you excluded, of course react so strongly whenever I've mentioned how eager I am to get this over with. My eagerness doesn't change how quickly it gets here. What is it about my excitement, confidence and anticipation that some find to be objectionable.
"I'm eager for March to get here. Can't wait for Hillary to win!"
"Why do you hate democracy? Let's just call off the election and proceed with the coronation!"
As if my confidence changes the fact that people still get to vote. The calendar isn't moving faster simply because I wish it were true. When the appointed day arrives, people can still vote in their state's primary or caucus. (Not that it will matter, because Hillary has this thing in the bag anyway.)

Civics and ethics should be taught in school and an occasional lesson on the nightly news wouldn't hurt either. I am always amazed by my disappointment at how much I assume other people know.

(2,427 posts)There are people with blind allegiance, they'll never shake it - never think critically - just skip to the grave with blinders on all the while going against their better interests.
We always opine about Republicans voting against their better interests but fail to look at our own house.
Hopefully, Sanders wins the primary and we can get down to business. If Hillary gets it, I am completely out of national politics - fuck it. Too tired and old to keep fighting for a party that has left my ass behind.

(12,041 posts)I see where the poll says that 38% chose honesty as being the primary virtue they look for in a candidate, but I don't see anything that suggests that those 38% are Hillary supporters. Some of them are no doubt Bernie supporters and some are no doubt Republicans as well (Republicans actually believe their candidates are honest even if the rest of us know better). Do you have any crosstabs that show how many of that 38% support Hillary?

(110,159 posts)and my view on Bill Clinton, I find this the most interesting over the months, reading the many accusations, fabricated accusations, and being schooled on the truth of what she really supports, believes and says.
I have learned my lesson well to research all accusations against Clinton because inevitably, they are false. And mostly poorly done.
I am glad the less than aware voter hasn't bought into that garbage.

(53,661 posts)There's a saying goes something like this:
If everyone on the left and right is hating you, you're doing something right.
Truth is in the eye of the beholder in politics, those who grasp at only a few words or facts, miss the real context of what is going on. Andre Gide said:
Believe those who seek the truth. Doubt those who find it.
I am a true skeptic in that regard, but not about the real meaning behind the words being said.
This is the secret tshe and Obama share, letting the opinions of others flow through you, or hold onto them long enough to see what they mean. In the meanwhile, holding to the long view and the best for all, not just the popular to one side or the other.
That's being honest with yourself. She has a sense of humor about herself like Obama. She also can see when others try to bait her with false narratives.
She thinks it's funny for them to think they are going to score a 'gotcha.' Their bias and ignorance is so obvious, it screams for a guffaw or laughter.

(42,862 posts)Hillary's got it! She's learned a lot since 2007/08 and that experience is paying off BIG TIME now. People see it, and that's why her polling and endorsements are leaving Bernie in the dust.
