Bernie Sanders CALLS Planned Parenthood Shooting A Consequence Of Republican Rhetoric

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders connected the dots and called out the unintended consequences of Republican rhetoric while responding to the Colorado Planned Parenthood shooting.

In a statement, Sen. Sanders said,

“..While we still do not know the shooter’s motive, what is clear is that Planned Parenthood has been the subject of vicious and unsubstantiated statements attacking an organization that provides critical health care for millions of Americans. I strongly support Planned Parenthood and the work it is doing and hope people realize that bitter rhetoric can have unintended consequences...”

The political campaign against Planned Parenthood has involved edited videos that are not factually accurate, congressional hearings which were filled with heated and inaccurate attacks against the health care provider, and even a Republican presidential candidate (Carly Fiorina) flat out lying about Planned Parenthood on the debate stage.

Sen. Sanders was correct. The Republican tactic of using false statements and over the top rhetoric is dangerous because it creates the climate for violence. When Republican rhetoric is combined with easy access to weapons, it makes the perfect recipe for mass shootings.

While suspect has not stated his motive for the shootings, the fact that he chose to carry out his attack inside a Planned Parenthood on the busiest shopping weekend of the year is a very strong hint that points to an anti-choice motive.

"...If we have to ask—let's start with the GOP/Fox/Limbaugh

~snip~

Odious messages are spewed daily via ‘hate media’ like the televised Fox News, written media like Breibart, and radio shows like The Rush Limbaugh show. These outlets are now being accused of being partly responsible for Friday’s act of terrorism. Olivia Kittel with Media Matters cites some of the malign public attacks against Planned Parenthood:

Fox News contributor Erick Erickson said Republicans who won't vote to defund the health provider "should be destroyed, " and conservative blog RedState called Planned Parenthood "our Auschwitz." Fox host Bill O'Reilly described Planned Parenthood's fetal tissue donation as "Nazi stuff," while many conservative media figures drew comparisons to the notorious Nazi doctor, Josef Mengele, who conducted painful and often fatal human experiments on concentration camp prisoners.

We have GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, lying to one of the largest television audiences this year. She claims there is a video of a Planned Parenthood clinic doing unthinkable, even though it did not take place at Planned Parenthood health center:

“Watch a fully formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking while someone says, ‘We have to keep it alive to harvest its brain.” -Carly Fiorina

Public radio programs like The Rush Limbaugh Show are just as bad or worse. Limbaugh, known for being racist, misogynistic, anti-LGBT gun-hugger, uses phrases like, “Planned Parenthood butchery,” perpetuating the already festering hatred towards pro-choice organizations. Media Matters recorded a show where Rush Limbaugh actually said:

None of the above have suffered repercussions for their lies, other than Limbaugh who has lost thousands of advertisers due to a national protest and boycott. But whats that compared to promoting menacing disinformation that might/can lead to the deaths of innocent people?

In their twisted, stunted, unthinking minds the consequences are just and righteous, UNTIL their own families get caught up in them.

The ONLY way to win this fight is to make perfectly obvious that they will get caught up in the rhetoric and the violence at some point. The golden rul has to apply to, and be applied by, EVERYONE. Nothing else can possibly work in the long term.

“Today and every day, we #StandWithPP,” Hillary Clinton tweeted Friday afternoon. Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley also used the hashtag in their tweets supporting Planned Parenthood.

As of early Saturday, the only GOP Presidential candidate who had responded publicly to the attack on Twitter was Texas Senator Ted Cruz. “Praying for the loved ones of those killed, those injured & first responders who bravely got the situation under control in Colorado Springs,” he wrote.

President Obama also issued a statement about the shooting, advocating for stricter gun laws.

http://time.com/4128435/presidential-candidates-respond-to-planned-parenthood-shooting/

I don't care what Senator Sanders does or does not do with regards to the GOP. Hillary Clinton has been a strong advocate of Planned Parenthood. You call it "crickets" -- I call it not being aware.

There.... you just had a Hillary supporter respond.

It took me less than 10 seconds to find the link I posted. Had some others but I could see no point. My contention was that you were not aware of something that most people already were. It's no secret to most that Hillary is a major advocate of Planned Parenthood. Maybe many could see no reason to reply. I just did so out of courtesy to you.

"would have to admit the talking point is hogwash" and "they have their marching orders". Your word smithing has a bitter tinge to it. Something tells me that you are just looking for a confrontation. That's cool. Not my thing though. Believe it or not most Hillary supporters are free-thinkers and don't need repetitive talking points or someone telling them what to do.

Wait!! Marching Orders?? You mean like when the Sanders supporters marched to the JJ Dinner with the Sanders Drum Brigade beating out the cadence?
