"She Can't Be Bought"...... Load em' Up Jack.......
Hillary Clinton is defending her business ties, saying she can't be bought, including by Wall Street. The Democratic front-runner, in an interview with Charlie Rose, again brought up 9/11 when asked whether her image has taken a hit due to her ties to the financial sector.
The comment echoes a remark she gave at last month's Democratic debate that triggered a backlash, in which she referenced 9/11 as part of the reason why she has received significant contributions from Wall Street while she was a U.S. senator.
In the interview that was taped Monday and released on Tuesday, Clinton said she has advocated for regulation on big banks, and that she has represented a range of business interests, from dairy farmers to fishermen. "Anybody who thinks that they can influence me on that ground doesn't know me very well," she said.

(12,882 posts)How's about some bumper stickers with nothing more than Hillary's mug and "FOR SALE" or "FOR LEASE" right next to it???
I was going to say that she can't be bought. She's no longer for sale. Wall Street snatched her up already.
Leased. Much better analogy. She's "under contract".

And Hillary supporters wonder why we, independents and Republicans have such a hard time supporting her or trusting her ....
Even after she's caught (as it's been clearly established that Wall Street was heavily supporting her and her husband long before 9/11), she continues to deceive like Rudy Giuliani, using that terrible moment for her own personal deception ... It doesn't get much lower than that.
I no longer believe anything she says. I'm done. Mr Safire had it right.

She's a disgrace for doing that and a "congenital liar". Shame on her.

(10,495 posts)Our politicians, Republicans and Democrats alike, have been bought. Just looking at Hillary's endorsements from other pols tells me that their Donors (many of them also Hillary's Donors) have instructed them to endorse her. That's how this works. To see so many endorsements so early in the race, especially by unions, demonstrates that they want to bury Bernie before much of America hears what he has to say.
Hillary and her Donors will do whatever they have to in order to beat Bernie and get her in the White House. While that statement is a normal course for a politician running for office, she and they will go way below the belt!

(46,704 posts)Whether you are a political attorney straddling the public and private sector, or a politician running for office, your social networks do matter. That's what all those business organizations are about. They want to find a way to game the system.
This game has been played with such consistency that they know that any attorney who feels comfortable swinging his or her conflict of interests aside as they change hats to represent public and private clients is a good bet. They know that any candidate who talks about compromise and accepts large donations, is also a good bet. It doesn't matter if that money comes through a third party law firm.
Everyone who donates large sums wants to get ahead financially, and they think that paying large sums to a candidate will do the trick. Regardless of how you might feel about it, it would behoove you to understand that this is a given fact for the rest of us.

(2,262 posts)a severe lack of critical thinking and consequential effects of Democrats reading or hearing this sort of news that allows them to disregard such a serious impact her words and actions. You can't make this stuff up yet Hill supporters and the willfull blind will ignore these telltale signs of her real intentions.
And, ladies and gentlemen, that is pathetic.

(12,471 posts)The only person who has ignited enthusiasm on the Left is Sanders. When he gets the nomination, count on it, he shall have long coat tails, and get back the Senate, as well as many seats in Congess.
Many Conservatives, and tons of independents like Bernie even though they may not agree with his views. He speaks truthfully, and sticks to his beliefs. Many conservatives prefer this to someone who changes his or her mind willy nilly.

(1,192 posts)in Vermont or wherever, is that they respect him even though they disagree with Bernie on social issues. And that is because they can instinctively tell that he truly believes in what he says -that it's his character, integrity, and principles guiding his career. Perhaps that could carry cross-over votes for him.

(4,748 posts)I don't think the GOP has the electoral college map to take the white house (they would have to flip like 5 of 6 swing states, and not lose texas)
The next president will very very likely be decided in the Democratic Primary, so no worries there.
I'm a bernie supporter, and I will vote for Hillary if she is the Democratic nominee for President. Compared to whoever is the GOP nominee, that's a no-brainer.
But she isn't the Democratic Nominee YET.

It's going to get tiring after awhile.
She needs new campaign advisors, Obama's advisors would never tell her to just "stay the course" like this about 9/11.
The longer she repeats this line, the more she is going to lose support among voters.

She may have learned this tactic from the Benghazi committee.
Tell me, if you could only choose one, would you prefer Hillary to fund her campaign with the money of millions of enthusiastic grassroots supporters or with the dirty corporate money in which she currently wallows?

So, he's a long way from "the money of millions of enthusiastic grassroots supporters", like 1.25M donors away, if we define "millions" as being at least 2.

If someone is going to give me money because they expect me to modify my ideology, then they can piss off.
This whole straw-man POV is laughable at best.
I don't begrudge any candidate for accepting donations that are fully legal and within the law. I think it's great if someone chooses not to accept them, even if it is a rather stupid maneuver.
Really, if just accepting money from businesses makes him compromised morally, then I say his morals are pretty pathetic to begin with.

The 9-11 crap is just lame. It's "the dog ate my homework" type stuff.
I can't help but wonder what some of DU's self-professed Marxists who paradoxically have become some of the most vehement pro-Clinton voices (or maybe just anti-Sanders, or should I say anti-Sanders supporters) think about these statements.
