Hillary Clinton pastes Rosa Parks into campaign logo, Twitter users disgusted

Turning Rosa Parks into a cartoon logo for your political campaign? Somewhat tone deaf and disrespectful.

Hillary Clinton's logo accidentally puts Rosa Parks in the back of a bus

It did not go over well on Twitter, where users suggested that Parks is seemingly seated at the back of an H-shaped bus.

It's like they're sitting at the edge of their seats going "okay, people don't like this but it's not enough. We need SCREAMING, dammit! This needs to be the biggest, worst thing EVER. And why does this only have 60 recs when it's been here FIVE HOURS!@#??! "

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251864257

Hillary the Hawk does it again: Asked about her Wall Street ties, Clinton again invoked 9/11

“I have stood for a lot of regulation on big banks and on the financial services sector. I also represented New York and represented everybody from the dairy farmers to the fishermen,” Clinton replied, adding, “And did I help rebuild after 9/11? Yes, I did.”

Clinton’s latter response is not as angry and belligerent as her former answer in the debate, but she still resorted to base jingoism to justify her political record and to distract from her close ties to Wall Street — which has made her a multimillionaire.

I haven't said one word about Killer Mike and have no idea why you are bringing him up. My comments about MLK and Sanders stem from the idiotic propensity of a small, loud group of Sanders supporters on DU doing the "MLK would Love Bernie" stance over the last week or so.

Your inability to suddenly not understand what I'm saying to you is interesting considering the apparent impact my posts seem to have on you, judging by the number of times you've talked about them. Even days later. But I stand by what I believe which is that using dead civil rights icons to prop up candidates is wrong no matter who does it. And I have posted about your dishonesty and smears about the black posters here so many times I'm sure half this board can name them by heart. And the last TWO times I did, not only did you not answer but you alerted on my posts. The jurors who voted to not hide your really blatant attempts to stir up crap made sure that the alert results were posted in the threads.

But instead of learning from your loud, many and OFT REPEATED errors, you seem to be determined to keep making them and believe that all you have to do is type "WHAT ARE YOU TALkiNG ABoutt??!!" enough times and that means none of it ever happened.

Oh, I just saw it. lol. You are talking about the one where you say you don't like it but try to liken it to a poster that Bernie and his campaign didn't have anything do with. Oh my... lol. Really cushioned that one and with something that isn't even a reality. And then you actually complain about "selective outrage". That is so rich. It's almost unbelievable.

As to the rest, more baseless accusations. Stating things with nothing to back it up doesn't make them true. And saying you have posted the same baseless accusations in the past isn't proof, it's just using your other baseless posts as evidence and that makes no sense. Trying to paint me as racist is complete bullshit. I've told you several times to just look up my posts on racism but you won't do that. Wouldn't be fun to find evidence that contradicts your fantasy narrative.

Before when you accused me of things you were shown to have been incorrect. Then instead of apologizing, or at the very least admitting you were wrong, you moved the goalposts, doubled down and hurled another insult. Continuously making false claims and going on and on about it doesn't make them true. You have provided ZERO evidence to back up your claims.

I've posted my opinion about how the AA group is hosted and how it is allowed to be an anti-Bernie smear haven. You don't like my opinion. Well, I'm not the only one who feels that way. It's pretty clear when you see the OPs that were allowed to remain open there.

I've tried to have a reasonable discussion with you in the past and told you I wouldn't respond again if you were going to be an ass, and you continued to be an ass and I kept my word. Same thing applies now.

Go ahead, have the last word because I don't expect anything you say to be conducive to a reasonable discussion. You've been nothing short of nasty to anyone who's ever dared criticize Obama for years now, so I don't expect anything different.

Oh, and again, I'm not the one yelling in my post. So you are merely projecting.

So wail away, Number23.

Y'know, in FO4, where calmex is king for a time, one of the most uplifting stories is of a kid who hid in a fridge at the atomic apocalypse and turned into a goul, and since gouls don't die of natural causes he set in place for 200 odd years for the lone wanderer to find and liberate, then return to his family who were also now gouls and oh gosh darn. Touching. You should try some of that calmex too.

This was a really bad, really tasteless move on Hillary's part but the Sanders poster with MLK floating overhead was in equally poor taste. And it's really clear who sees the AA community and our concerns as genuine or just something to score "points" off. Not that any minority member of this web site would be the slightest bit surprised by those doing so.

The discrepancy between how this type of thing is viewed based SOLELY on who's doing it is the real issue and that's what makes all of the crocodile tears and hollering in this thread so incredibly stupid. Either something is right or its wrong. This isn't about "political correctness" it's either right or wrong. And using deceased civil rights icons to prop up candidates is wrong imo. If others think it's fine for some candidates to do it but not others, it does nothing but show how corrupt and mindless they are. Nothing more.

It would be like if Bernie put a cartoon MLK between the B and the E in the Bernie logo.

It's the cartoonish aspect and how they have her sitting inside the H> logo.

Inside it, like Hillary IS the civil rights movement, and Rosa Parks is diminished to a cartoon, instead of being treated as the real leader and radical activist that she truly was. There was a lot more to her activism than just sitting down on a bus one day.

Rosa Parks and MLK are legendary leaders. If a politician sees themselves as a real follower and they want to indicate that in a campaign message, I don't have a problem with that. The Repugs use Reagan like that all the time. Democrats use FDR sometimes.

This clearly wasn't well thought out.

And then this person wants to scream about what an "ally" they are to black people when they are EXCEPTIONALLY well known to just about every AA poster on this board as someone who is hostile to us, and this behavior is EXACTLY why. It would be funny if it wasn't so incredibly dumb.

I am specifically talking about how Sanders supporters lauded a really idiotic poster just last week with MLK on it and somehow, this causes this person to IMMEDIATELY launch into a pre-recorded and incredibly irrelevant spiel about Black Lives Matter. I am beyond embarrassed for this person because it truly does appear that they will never understand that conflating me talking about a poster in a thread about a LOGO has absolutely NOTHING to with them whining about Black Lives Matter and the fact that black people weren't pissed enough at Hillary for them. So if someone could explain to this person what the difference is, that would be great.

With her Yale law degree, with honors, she could have worked at a top corporate law firm in NY and made a ton of money. But she took a job working in civil rights.

Don't pretend that marching in some protest would accomplish more than she did. I marched in a number of protests and I don't feel, in retrospect, that any of them accomplished a lot more than venting some steam.

The bottom line is that she and Bernie both worked for civil rights -- just in different ways.

as "the next President of the United states." For which he got a standing ovation.

This was a gathering of the National Bar Association, the largest group of African American lawyers in the nation. If they don't have a problem with Hillary associating herself with Rosa Parks, as she did in her speech to them, then that's good enough for me.

And it is pretty funny, after all the pictures that have been plastered around with Bernie associated with MLK, that a Bernie supporter would criticize Hillary for connecting with Rosa Parks. Hillary invited Rosa Parks to the White House and spent time with her.

Did Bernie ever spend time with MLK? Did he know him personally?

This was a dumb unforced error. They shouldn't have added Rosa Parks to the logo. I get the party as a whole sending out an email about the progress of the Civil Rights era and such, but don't appropriate that into a campaign logo.

Hillary and her campaign (and every other political campaign) are commodities--products.

This would be similar to Tide bottles or Kraft Mac n Cheese boxes intertwining Rosa Parks with their logos.

This is tacky.

It's also a very thoughtless design, because Rosa looks like she's sitting at the back of the bus. Rosa sat at the front of the bus and refused to move to the back. She never did move to the back of the bus.

Until now.

Christ on a cracker.

Anything to complain.

More importantly:

Mr. Gray, who represented Ms. Parks and Dr. King, received a standing ovation when he called Mrs. Clinton “the next president of the United States.” He talked about the first official planning meeting for the Montgomery bus boycott, a meeting that “took place in the basement of this church” in 1955, and said, “The struggle for equal justice continues.”
