I have stood for a lot of regulation on big banks and on the financial services sector. I also represented New York and represented everybody from the dairy farmers to the fishermen, Clinton replied, adding, And did I help rebuild after 9/11? Yes, I did.
Clintons latter response is not as angry and belligerent as her former answer in the debate, but she still resorted to base jingoism to justify her political record and to distract from her close ties to Wall Street which has made her a multimillionaire.

Please feel free to point out my "double standard." I said that Bernie's poster sucked and am saying the same thing about this logo from Hillary. I said that using dead civil rights icons is wrong as it relates to Sanders and now as it relates to Hillary.

I'd laugh but I've given you far too much of my time already.
Autumn
(45,042 posts)I saw your post when I was reading this thread this evening and had left the window open. Those were your words, you were angry about a politician using an American icon so it was easy to remember. I'm flattered though that you caught my post. But actually it was a black man, Killer Mike who invoked MLK in the link in that OP.
Do have a nice evening.
Number23
(24,544 posts)I haven't said one word about Killer Mike and have no idea why you are bringing him up. My comments about MLK and Sanders stem from the idiotic propensity of a small, loud group of Sanders supporters on DU doing the "MLK would Love Bernie" stance over the last week or so.
Your inability to suddenly not understand what I'm saying to you is interesting considering the apparent impact my posts seem to have on you, judging by the number of times you've talked about them. Even days later. But I stand by what I believe which is that using dead civil rights icons to prop up candidates is wrong no matter who does it. And you'll stand by apparently what you believe which is that "anything Sanders does is fabulous and I don't speak English suddenly when someone says anything different." See ya.

Number23
(24,544 posts)I "respond" to this "controversy" in a way that meets your approval as if anyone breathing gives the first crock about you OR your demands. When if you'd taken five seconds to read this thread you'd see that I have said already repeatedly that I think that this is in poor taste.
And I have posted about your dishonesty and smears about the black posters here so many times I'm sure half this board can name them by heart. And the last TWO times I did, not only did you not answer but you alerted on my posts. The jurors who voted to not hide your really blatant attempts to stir up crap made sure that the alert results were posted in the threads.
But instead of learning from your loud, many and OFT REPEATED errors, you seem to be determined to keep making them and believe that all you have to do is type "WHAT ARE YOU TALkiNG ABoutt??!!" enough times and that means none of it ever happened.
cui bono
(19,926 posts)Oh, I just saw it. lol. You are talking about the one where you say you don't like it but try to liken it to a poster that Bernie and his campaign didn't have anything do with. Oh my... lol. Really cushioned that one and with something that isn't even a reality. And then you actually complain about "selective outrage". That is so rich. It's almost unbelievable.
As to the rest, more baseless accusations. Stating things with nothing to back it up doesn't make them true. And saying you have posted the same baseless accusations in the past isn't proof, it's just using your other baseless posts as evidence and that makes no sense. Trying to paint me as racist is complete bullshit. I've told you several times to just look up my posts on racism but you won't do that. Wouldn't be fun to find evidence that contradicts your fantasy narrative.
Before when you accused me of things you were shown to have been incorrect. Then instead of apologizing, or at the very least admitting you were wrong, you moved the goalposts, doubled down and hurled another insult. Continuously making false claims and going on and on about it doesn't make them true. You have provided ZERO evidence to back up your claims.
I've posted my opinion about how the AA group is hosted and how it is allowed to be an anti-Bernie smear haven. You don't like my opinion. Well, I'm not the only one who feels that way. It's pretty clear when you see the OPs that were allowed to remain open there.
I've tried to have a reasonable discussion with you in the past and told you I wouldn't respond again if you were going to be an ass, and you continued to be an ass and I kept my word. Same thing applies now.
Go ahead, have the last word because I don't expect anything you say to be conducive to a reasonable discussion. You've been nothing short of nasty to anyone who's ever dared criticize Obama for years now, so I don't expect anything different.
Oh, and again, I'm not the one yelling in my post. So you are merely projecting.

I don't particularly care for the MLK photo either but have no problem with using speech in context.
I figure if there is enough public outrage about a thing, then it should go away and be replaced with something else.
I guess that would be the politically correct thing to do.
I guess.
Number23
(24,544 posts)This was a really bad, really tasteless move on Hillary's part but the Sanders poster with MLK floating overhead was in equally poor taste. And it's really clear who sees the AA community and our concerns as genuine or just something to score "points" off. Not that any minority member of this web site would be the slightest bit surprised by those doing so.
The discrepancy between how this type of thing is viewed based SOLELY on who's doing it is the real issue and that's what makes all of the crocodile tears and hollering in this thread so incredibly stupid. Either something is right or its wrong. This isn't about "political correctness" it's either right or wrong. And using deceased civil rights icons to prop up candidates is wrong imo. If others think it's fine for some candidates to do it but not others, it does nothing but show how corrupt and mindless they are. Nothing more.

(9,086 posts)It would be like if Bernie put a cartoon MLK between the B and the E in the Bernie logo.
It's the cartoonish aspect and how they have her sitting inside the H> logo.
Inside it, like Hillary IS the civil rights movement, and Rosa Parks is diminished to a cartoon, instead of being treated as the real leader and radical activist that she truly was. There was a lot more to her activism than just sitting down on a bus one day.
Rosa Parks and MLK are legendary leaders. If a politician sees themselves as a real follower and they want to indicate that in a campaign message, I don't have a problem with that. The Repugs use Reagan like that all the time. Democrats use FDR sometimes.
This clearly wasn't well thought out.

I'm talking about Hillary supporters. Where do you even get the idea from what I said that I'm talking about only blacks?
Once again, go ahead and look up my posts talking about white privilege. Look up my posts about Ferguson. You won't do it just as you never did it in the past because it wouldn't ruin the narrative you are trying to create about me. Why it is so important to you to try to smear a random person on DU I just don't understand. You are supposed to have discussions on a discussion board not try to sully the reputations of those with whom you disagree.
Number23
(24,544 posts)has NOTHING TO DO WITH BLACK LIVES MATTER. And then want to encourage me to "look at your posts about white privilege." You mean like your posts in this thread? And the 4 gagillion others from you trying to chastise black posters, most of whom are much, much, MUCH smarter/nicer/more pleasant to talk to than you are?
I won't read your posts about ANYTHING and I wish to God in Heaven that you would leave me alone. If the response to or from BLM did not meet your approval, FIND SOMEONE WHO GIVES A SHIT. Hint: That would NOT be me.
cui bono
(19,926 posts)That's where the discussion led. That's how discussions work.
As you can see - if you weren't blinded by apparent hatred - I brought up Hillary supporters, not black people. YOU are the one who is trying to make my words about black people because you are trying to paint me as racist.
AGAIN... look up my posts about white privilege, about Ferguson. Do it. Then you can stop trying to make me out to be a racist talking about black people when I'm really talking about Hillary supporters.
Number23
(24,544 posts)Matter are not the same thing?? Please? Somebody? Anybody?
And then this person wants to scream about what an "ally" they are to black people when they are EXCEPTIONALLY well known to just about every AA poster on this board as someone who is hostile to us, and this behavior is EXACTLY why. It would be funny if it wasn't so incredibly dumb.
I am specifically talking about how Sanders supporters lauded a really idiotic poster just last week with MLK on it and somehow, this causes this person to IMMEDIATELY launch into a pre-recorded and incredibly irrelevant spiel about Black Lives Matter. I am beyond embarrassed for this person because it truly does appear that they will never understand that conflating me talking about a poster in a thread about a LOGO has absolutely NOTHING to with them whining about Black Lives Matter and the fact that black people weren't pissed enough at Hillary for them. So if someone could explain to this person what the difference is, that would be great.
I know folks are working over time to make this the biggest deal ever and it still doesn't even have 100 recs so I know that is a big part of the panic.
cui bono
(19,926 posts)Follow the discussion. You commented on selective outrage as a comment about Bernie supporters in a way that had no bearing on reality, I brought up an example of it from Hillary supporters.
How that turns into your once again trying to paint me as a racist is beyond me.

This was a gathering of the National Bar Association, the largest group of African American lawyers in the nation. If they don't have a problem with Hillary associating herself with Rosa Parks, as she did in her speech to them, then that's good enough for me.
And it is pretty funny, after all the pictures that have been plastered around with Bernie associated with MLK, that a Bernie supporter would criticize Hillary for connecting with Rosa Parks. Hillary invited Rosa Parks to the White House and spent time with her.
