https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2015/12/01/clinton-celebrates-rosa-parks-anniversary-but-declares-our-work-isnt-finished/At an event on the 60th anniversary of Rosa Parks' bus protest, organized by the National Bar Association, the nation's largest organization of AA attorneys, Hillary Clinton delivered the keynote address, and was introduced as the "next Presidient." To close the event, a prayer was given by Rev. Bernice King:
Lord, as I believe that this is the century of the woman, I pray now that you grant great favor, grace and anointing to Hillary Rodham Clinton in her pursuit to be the first woman president of the United States of America.

(146,324 posts)everyone who supports Clinton is connected to everyone else who does. I just found this entire WaPo article interesting. The event, the reason for the event, the one-day logo from the Clinton campaign, and all of those things. I had noticed some stuff regarding Bernice King earlier, but paid little attention to it.
I just found it interesting that she prayed for Hillary's campaign in the benediction to that event. More interesting was the organization's invitation for Clinton to deliver the keynote address at that event. That was especially interesting to me.
Rosa Parks was a seminal figure in the civil rights struggle in the 60s. Her individual protest got the attention of so many and helped get an important conversation started. The symbolism of that still rings loud, even 60 years later.

(26,549 posts)When she's meeting with Clinton, she's great.
MineralMan
(146,324 posts)I did think her benediction at that event, however, was worth mentioning. Perhaps you disagree. That's OK.
Thanks for replying in my thread.

(25,699 posts)It's a rabid, virulent hatred of anything he is in contact with. As we see with Bernice King, the revultant rage only lasts so long as he is in contact with whatever it is.
MineralMan
(146,324 posts)I've never been there. I have no connection to it at all. Somehow, I manage to think for myself, you see. I don't often even visit the Hillary Clinton group on DU, or any other groups.
I found that quote all on my own, while looking into the connection between Hillary Clinton and Rosa Parks. I found it interesting that she was asked to deliver a keynote address at an event honoring Rosa Parks and organized by a prestigious group of black attorneys. That benediction was mentioned at the bottom of the article in the link.
I'm not concerned with what others think, very much. I found a news story and posted part of it. I think for myself.

(146,324 posts)I was looking for connections between Hillary Clinton and Rosa Parks and found that article. I hadn't been aware of the event, really, until today. I thought Bernice King's benediction was of interest, since she has been mentioned on DU in connection with another candidate in the primaries.

(23,664 posts)Seems like just yesterday that irony-challenged Clinton fans were trashing this woman because they thought Sen Sanders was dragging her out in front of the cameras to pander to black voters. Thats because it almost was yesterday.

It wasn't personal. It never is with me. There's no need for a disclaimer.

Are Democratic leaders pro-gay or not? We donate our money and time to you and then you expect us to hold hands with those who would kill us. Shame on Bernie and Hillary.
