Black Lives Matter Supporters Give 7 Reasons They Can’t Support Hillary Clinton

From Independent Journal, 5 days ago:

They’re Tired of ‘Waiting’ on Clinton

"We’ve been waiting for weeks to see the platform that addresses these issues from Hillary Clinton’s campaign. We will wait no more.”

http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/30/politics/hillary-clinton-black-lives-matter/

She’s Been Noticeably Absent

Hillary Clinton is the only democratic candidate who skipped today's criminal justice/#BlackLivesMatter forum. I just want to point that out

BLM Supporters are ‘Feeling the Bern’

Watch "Former Hillary Clinton Supporter Changes Mind, Feels The Bern | MSNBC" https://t.co/HVrXox7sHR #Bernie2016 #BlackLivesMatter

— Alain Cornet (@CarlAntoine) November 16, 2015
https://twitter.com/CarlAntoine/status/666315967249694720

Some, like former Ohio state Senator Nina Turner, have found Sen. Bernie Sanders to be more in line with their beliefs.

She Wants to Keep Marijuana Criminalized

The decriminalization of marijuana possession is listed among BLM’s “Campaign Zero” recommendations.

http://www.marijuana.com/blog/news/2015/08/black-lives-matter-organizers-call-for-marijuana-decriminalization/

Al Jazeera America explains why:

“Keeping weed illegal perpetuates a racist criminal justice system and subjects young black men to constant harassment, search and arrest by the police.”

Clinton has traditionally been in favor of keeping marijuana criminalized, and has said she’s waiting on “more studies” before changing her mind.

Leaders Have Warned of Her ‘Lip Service’

As Cornel West, a long-time activist, said at a Democratic Party event in mid-November:

“Glad to hear my dear sister Hillary Clinton sounding so progressive. I salute her effort. But it’s lip service if you don’t come to terms with your…actions.”

http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/news/a39737/cornel-west-bernie-sanders-iowa/

Some Don’t Trust Her ‘Sudden’ Interest in Their Cause

Hillary has been in Politics for a LONG TIME. All of a sudden she gives a CRAP about BlackLives. I'm not buying it @deray #BlackLivesMatter

— My Black Matters2 (@MyBlackMatters2) November 23, 2015
https://twitter.com/MyBlackMatters2/status/668615541721026560

As Clinton has long been in the political spotlight, there are those who find her ‘sudden’ support of Black Lives Matter’s cause difficult to swallow.

Others Question Her Political Donors

Though Clinton announced in October that she would stop accepting “direct donations from private prison lobbyists,” BLM supporters have called her out on accepting “hundreds of thousands of dollars from wealthy donors” in regions that maintain a strong “economic disparity” with neighboring areas.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS

"Black lives bullies" - Attacking the AA community in unacceptable

The review was completed at Thu Dec 3, 2015, 05:50 PM, and the Jury voted 3-4 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Hiding the post seems unnecessary censorship. I don't like this poster's opinion but he/she is entitled to it. Revolutions don't start at the top, and it seems this person will likely get a lot of reminder of that.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Post isn't "attacking" the AA community. Just argue it...stop alerting and making broad-brush statements that aren't in the post.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Some of the tactics used by A FEW of those claiming to be #BLM advocates could arguably be described as bullying. I'm not saying I agree with that, but I don't think the statement is a broad brush of the entire AA community, some of whom have distanced themselves from such tactics.
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Agree with alerter.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: The organizers and group "Black Lives Matter" are not the same as the African American community. Very few of the AA community are out there protesting under the Black Lives Matter banner.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: BLM "bullies" has no place on this board. Poster, please try to make your points without such incendiary language.

Since don't resonate with the people.

And now, her obnozious supporters are giving a tuss about BLM and seem to fall in line with people who still want to send black kids into prison for weed, and then call them bullies when they protest police violence and institutional racism.

That apparently doesn't matter to Hillary supporters.

Apparently Hillary only wants to talk to white people or people who bow down and kiss her highness' ring.

Why this obsession about having a Clinton or Bush in office?

And what makes you believe she will implement progressive ideas, take money out of politics and hold her criminal friends in Goldman Sachs accountable?

When will we see drug money laundering bankers in prison under president Hillary?

Does she resonate with the majority with the American people with her pro war stance, and her more money in politics stance? How does she resonate better with the African American community than Bernie Sanders? What has she and her husband done for minorites save from intensifying the drug war?
How does she resonate with the majorty of the American people when she insists on still inprisoning drug addicts and everyday pot smokers?
And why do you insist on having more of the same when you for once have an oportunity for real change?
Do you really think that her 9-11 remark was a good defense for her close ties with the criminals on Wall Street?
Why are you voting for more war, more money in politics and socialism for the rich?
What makes you think Hillary is more electable against republicans than Bernie Sanders?

And will you vote Bernie Sanders after Hillary has been exposed as the fraud she is?
Why do you want to impose another Clinton/Bush on humanity?
Isn't one Clinton enough? Or are you just like the republicans? A sucker for political royalties and criminals!

Bill Clinton bombed the crap out of Iraq while denying them cleaning systems for the water reservoirs, which resulted in more than a half a million deaths.
Not to mention the trade deal that made more Americans lose their jobs under the banner of "The third way".

Seems as the establishment democrats are just as blood thirsty war criminals and corrupt as their republican counterparts.

Seems that democrats are more obsessed about partisanship serving the Wall Street criminals than to stand by progressive principles.

Nope!

The Clinton's was a disaster.
The Clinton's are as dirty as their republican counterparts.
I am just sad that their brainwashed minions are too stupid or stubborn to realize it.

So! You vote Hillary, eh?

Can't have enough of more of the same bullshit?
Must have political royalties?
Must have more money in politics? Hot more kids to send to their deaths for Hillary's future wars?

Fact is that USA has gone down the drain after Carter. And BOTH parties are responsible.

GOP for being aggressive liars, and democrats for being spineless weasels.

What I can't understand is why Hillary has any supporters at all, and how you keep throwing garbage as the actual cleanest statesman of this generation.

Think about it. All of those young people who voted for Obama, and rejected her inevitableness--are now in their late 20's - mid 30's. They rejected Clinton once, because they wanted a more liberal candidate.

That Demographic certainly won't go for Clinton this time around with Bernie in the race.

Also, you've got an entirely new crop of young voters. They were too young to vote last time the Democrats has a primary. They are wildly liberal. These people were toddlers when Bill Clinton was President. The Clintons are a part of history for them. But not much else.

Sanders and his Progressive agenda represents the future.

I also think that Democratic voters may have Clinton fatigue. We endured an arduous primary with her before. We picked someone else. She's back again, with nothing new to offer.

I think our voters could easily decide--once again--that they're interested in someone besides Hillary Clinton being the Democratic nominee.

Pretending it was Sanders instead of Clinton running for the Democratic nominations in the prior 2, I would have voted for Obama the first time but easily switched to Sanders the second election. (Assuming he had been a Democrat instead of an Independent).

I am 61 now and like most DUers I shared the desire for an honest to God Progressive in the White House. From what I can tell, kids arriving at the age where they can vote for the first time share that desire for a Progressive government. I am sick of corporatocracy and i believe kids these days 'get it' because the economy has forced them into paying attention.

The man is squeaky clean.

Clinton, on the other hand--is a buffet of scandals, horrid votes, neocon policies and she has a track record of taking money from Wall Street, the for-profit-prison system and from defense contractors.

The Republicans will be busy resurrecting all of the Clinton dirt, that kept right-wing radio busy for decades. The Progressives in our party won't care about any of that, but they'll be stricken by her past hawkishness and corporate donations that leave her beholden to powerful interests.

Anyway you look at Hillary, she is one big clusterfuck of NO WAY IN HELL coming at her from every direction.

I think this is very important:

“Keeping weed illegal perpetuates a racist criminal justice system and subjects young black men to constant harassment, search and arrest by the police.”

The criminalization of marijuana has been used for decades to bring serious harm to the black community. The longer we "study" the more go to prison or get killed. Of course the "for-profit" prisons, large Clinton backers, want to continue the criminalization.

First of all, FLOTUS doesn't count, sorry. The only first lady who came close to what you're thinking was the one in your avatar. But there is a HUGE difference between Hillary and Eleanor. Eleanor showed her concern for people and had a gracious, loving sense of responsibility, perhaps noblesse oblige, that gave her a grandness that Hillary lacks. Hillary has self-importance and ambition but lacks the feel for humanity that Eleanor had. Eleanor was a large person from the inside.

So what is it then? Two terms as a carpetbagger senator from New York, terms that are not particularly distinguished except for the horribly bad judgment of her vote for the IWR. And there is the corruption factor of the record number of arms sales to questionable parties, such as terrorist countries, that gave generously to the Clinton Foundation with a strong appearance of quid pro quo.

Then we have SOS. Frankly, she doesn't look outstanding there either. She handled the Middle East clumsily and coarsely and didn't leave it in an improved state. Kerry has been a far better Secretary of State.

Thom Hartmann has been saying for months that he thinks Trump is in the race to throw it one way or the other, but he never mentioned Hillary. One of his theories was/is that Trump got in to destroy Jeb Bush -- which he pretty much did. You know, if Jeb hadn't folded so easily, he might have been a strong contender against Hillary, which sort of fits your hunch.

Of course, if they are playing games like that with our electoral system, they're a buncha schmucks. In our system, citizens should be respected and the vote should be sacred. Rich buffoons like Trump profane something that was close to holy to our founders.

REASON NUMBER 1.

Many of the millennial voters stayed home in the mid-terms. he has absolutely energized this group of voters and a large segment of those voters will show up to vote.

REASON NUMBER 2.

Hillary has not generated any form of excitement for those who have had it up to here with the corporate strategy of running this country. And these is a statement from Bill Daley, her campaign advisers who said NOT to focus on income inequality during this campaign. That blew my mind when I saw that today. He actually said that. So how are families have a better future if income inequality is not discussed? That falls in the "you got to be kidding" department.

It's amazing anyone still supports her. She should dance off into the sunset with her friend Jeb Bush.

Like many Republicans, she thinks most Black people are too stupid and naive to actually notice the pretty words coming out of her mouth and the BS she actually stands for. She thinks Black people are just going to vote for her regardless just because she's Hillary Clinton. If she thinks that then she's as delusional as I think she is.

The more the Black community learns about Bernie, you'll see Hillary's numbers start to tumble. When they do, she'll get angry and resentful like she and Bill did when Obama was running and tell Black folk that we aren't appreciative of how good she's been to us people, as if we owe her something.

Mark my words: Hillary will blow a fuse if her lead in the Black community fades, and I can't wait for it to happen because we're watching and paying attention.

Each one of those 7 reasons rings true. Many of the people in BLM are young, sensitive, and aware -- much like their white millennial counterparts. The links in the article, especially the tweets, sounded like sharp, clear-thinking people. It's possible that their parents or grandparents might feel residual fondness for the Clintons because the Clintons were the only Democrats in a long stretch of Republicans -- Reagan, Bush I, Bush II -- so where were they going to go? But Hillary is so far removed from the needs, the suffering and frustration of young black people. I could see that in the video of her talking in such a high-handed way with BLM protesters who were so earnest, so real with her, and she gave no indication of appreciating it.

They can see these things. Then, when they get a chance to encounter Bernie, it's like day and night. Bernie respects people. Bernie does not consider himself special or chosen or upper class. He's down to earth and real. I absolutely loved the account of his meeting Sandra Bland's mother and sister. Check it out here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251684857 It's beautiful, worth a read.

Bernie would be a wonderful president for people of color.

these issues. The President can only do so much. Whether it be Hillary or Bernie in the WH, we have to get a majority in the Senate and more Dems in the House. Never forget that the Republicans are the reason the country is so f...d up. And that's a fact. Yeah, there's some Dems that need to be ousted, but people need to get out and vote.

was their President. Bill Clinton never did anything to assist urban black communities. Not only that, he instituted a lot of laws to disenfranchise poor people and the worst of the worst was DADT, DOMA and three strikes you are out. Can you imagine a teen at 17 got caught with a small amount of substance three times and getting life? What is wrong with the western world, we punish people and never seek to rehabilitate them! No wonder Europe is so much more progressive. We punish and they rehabilitate! And we call ourselves the leader! Guess we lead in prisoners incarcerated!
