30 years of insane Republicans and triangulating Democrats,

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Skinner (a host of the 2016 Postmortem forum).

and here we are:

This lunatic Fascist is a serious contender to hold the most powerful office on Earth.

Obviously, what we need is more triangulation from Democrats.

wow, so what? According to the Urban Dictionary, it means "Shifty, sleazy, creepy, dirty, dodgy, nasty."

Again, so what? Those adjectives fall under that category of subjective impressions. Cosmic Kitten is allowed her own personal subjective impressions of various politicians, and in this case, we don't even know which one she was referring to. She didn't insult a fellow DUer, she didn't say anything "over the top" or hurtful, didn't disrupt the conversation. Hardly alertable.

I'd say your personal attack on Cosmic Kitten is much worse -- and more disruptive -- than what she said there. You're lucky I'm not one of the serial alerters who go around making this place truly "stink" -- to use your term. I am so sick of all this frivolous alerting. It's clearly an outlet for uncontrollable hostility, a substitute for physical aggression.

I know that the administrators of this website are clever, versatile, talented, creative individuals and I wish they would apply their good minds to resolving the problem of frivolous alerts. In fact, I think I'm going to go over there and make a suggestion right now.

There's a reason she used that word.

Dec 2015

I said we do not know whether or not she was referring to Bill Clinton or Donald Trump.

But it doesn't really matter, because we are allowed our personal reactions to politicians, and, believe it or not, Bill Clinton is indeed a politician.

Furthermore, there are known aspects of B.C.'s past that can accurately be termed "skeevy." He's a rather lusty male, plain and simple, and several of his conquests have tattled on him. Lots of men are like that, for whatever reason. Societies throughout history have tried to deal with the male penchant for aggressive sexuality and aggression itself. Maybe we should review the various approaches throughout history and model ourselves after the more successful ones.

And now we're getting into an area where I could write an essay, had I world enough and time, so I'll just say this: I personally dislike the way human beings judge one another on victimless sexual behaviors; I think it's a) personal and b) trivial. I prefer the French approach to these matters. However, given the social norms within which we live, there is nothing wrong with what she said.

But I would LOVE to know what you think her "reason" is for using "that word." I honestly cannot imagine what it might be, so please enlighten us.

Thanks!

IMO, if Superdelegates vote for Hillary, then it will be written in history that the Democratic Party purchased the Bush War in Iraq.

I had to think about the ideas in your comment because they are new to me, but on reflection they make tremendous sense. You have a large perspective and the way you connect the dots is very insightful.

This sums up the most odious aspects of the Clinton candidacy for me:

Clinton wants We the People to pay into, war for profit.

Because she couldn't give a damn about the American people, is drawn to war, and is in full cooperation with profiteers. It's the Republican mindset but worse for its establishment* Democratic wrappings.

*establishment since the 1990s when the Dem party became infested with undemocratic pollutants.

Also, regarding your first statement, did you know that Thom Hartmann has speculated that Trump may be in the race to soften things up for other candidates, Hillary, in particular? It's incredible, but I can see it. I wonder how often We the People are punked by those at the top?

This is exactly what they planned to do. Carter was the only deviation on that path and look what they did to him.

The plan was to distract us enough that we did not notice the shift. That strategy appears to have worked on most Americans. Riddle me this: Why are there no corporate bankers in jail? (answer: Professional Courtesy). Why were no questions asked about the no-bid arms and services contracts let during Iraq and Afghan wars? (same answer).

Have you noticed what happens to anyone who asks the big "why"? Typically they are accused of not being loyal enough...to the party (either one), to America, to "Christianity", to The NRA, to Free Enterprise, and so on. Often the response is that you must be out of your mind, or how dare you question (which ever sacred cow)!

Grouch Marx was right. So was John Lennon.

All Hail Lennon & Marx.

We should have stopped the process long before it got this far. You don't compromise the basic values on which this country was founded.

I don't know when Trump will shut his big mouth and disappear. However, our media is not helping by having Trump on the news all but 24/7! I happened to turn on Morning Joe today, and was glad to hear some sense coming out of that show, for once. And yeah, sure we need more triangulation...right! (sarcasm) Good post, MannyGoldstein.

have gotten us. There is a direct relationship between the compromising of Democrats on Democratic values and the rise of the Fascist right in the Republican Party.

Our Democrats in Congress are far to acquiescent and cooperative in helping the Republicans win elections and get their ways.

Our Democrats in Congress either don't believe in the traditional values of the FDR Democratic Party or they don't have the courage to speak up for them.

Compromise is great, but you don't compromise until you have fought as hard ad you can (legally and nonviolently of course) for what you believe is right. Only when opposing sides struggle with equal determination to do what they believe is right to get a society that is fair and moral.

Too many of our leading Democrats are quick to make sneaky deals. That's just plain wrong. The ACA is an improvement over what we had, but it leaves many Americans without health insurance, and it has allowed pharmaceutical companies to raise prices at unacceptable rates in many cases.

Taylor Swift, queen of the break up song, called it the ultimate break up song. (Swift and Simon sang it together at Gillette Stadium.) Simon recently said Warren Beatty was one of the men she had mind when she wrote it.

Tue Dec 8, 2015, 03:47 PM
Dec 2015

Only 39% of white people voted democrat in 2012 and even a majority of white women voted republican. This is no problem for left democrats as we prefer working with minority democrats who soon will be majority of party. Big problem for white corporate democrats who want to push corporate agenda and run for office. This is why they keep trying to appeal to moderate republicans(if any still exist) instead of democratic party base which they think is to liberal! In arizona fred duvaal ran for governor as third way democrat trying to appeal to republicans who loath democrats instead of latinos who loath republicans. The rich old white democrats in my state fear if latinos take over the party they can't win primary election for their self aggradizement ego trips!

Donald Trump is an ass, but discussion on the Republican primary, belongs in the General Discussion forum.

This should be locked and reposted in the General Discussion forum, as in line the with the GDP SOP rules.

GDP is for the Democratic primaries. It is not for your disgust with the Democratic Party, or to discuss Donald Trump. This post belongs in GD.
