Related: About this forumBernie Sanders' Biggest Limitation
This weekend while campaigning in New Hampshire, Sanders wove jabs at the "establishment media" into his usual attacks on "establishment politics" as he made it clear he would not dramatically change which issues he discussed. "Don't let CNN or NBC or anybody tell you what the major issues are," he said to cheers.
His supporters love his consistency and willingness to stick it to the corporate media. Trust in media is at an all time low, so he's clearly not alone. But resistance to discuss issues beyond the ones he's comfortable addressing may help explain why he's had trouble winning over Democrats outside his natural base.
In Baltimore, Sanders wanted to talk about racial justice, which is ironic since the issue was foisted upon him earlier this year by Black Lives Matter activists who repeatedly interrupted Sanders events. At the time, he primary viewed racial inequality through the lens of economic injustice. His campaign eventually fully incorporated the Black Lives Matter message and movement and it remains a key pillar of his campaign. But he seems to be having a harder time doing the same for ISIS.
Sanders says he wants to be able to "walk and chew bubble gum at the same time" - discuss the decline of the middle class in addition to ISIS. But some days it seems he only wants to chew bubble gum.

Some Black Members here were even Censored and run off but they came back and run off again.. but they're still persevering! Thank you, bravenak, ChiTownKev, 1StrongBlackMan, and all our African American members and their allies who stand up for #BLM!

(16,975 posts)I remember the anger here towards BLM for interrupting Bernie. Now the press has dared to ask a question of Bernie that shows his weakness on foreign policy and there is sudden concern about BLM being properly respected. It's very phony and obvious that Bernie's image is the main concern.
Thanks for the heads up about those posters. I didn't realize. They contribute a lot of good insight here.

(45,806 posts)for DOD, CIA, and other for describing the situation where there are problems and their collective advice on how to deal with those problems. I don't see any problem with Bernie deferring to what he believes the major problems of the US to be. It's not like he wouldn't deal with them as they arise, but none of the campaigners KNOW what they would do because none of the current candidates have enough military experience to be able to answer the difficult questions being asked now.

I love it.
on edit: BTW, I am neither.
These days I comment on behavior more than argument, as there seems to be little good in the former and none in the latter, especially in the GD.P forum.
Mostly I see more Blah deBlah, which needs to be called out no matter who one supports.
