(5,751 posts)If Hill and Bern are tied at 40% each in the latest polls before your primary, and Marty only has 1%, would you really risk having Hillary over Bernie? Not going to bash anyone, just curious.

(45,529 posts)You are asking us to triangulate between O'Malley and Sanders to block HRC. I see the election as much more than stopping HRC, I see it as the way to block the disastrous fools in the GOP and to continue recent Democratic successes, pushing the party further leftward. We need another 16 years of Democratic presidents to remake the Supreme court. I don't care about blocking HRC, because she'd be light years better than any Repub running (or living). We need to win and win and win.
Sanders says all the right things and is correct on almost every issue, but truthfully, his legislative record is very meager. Our party needs a dynamic President that can launch a new deal style of policies and tackle multiple issues at once. That candidate is O'Malley. He is most similar to FDR and JFK. FDR and JFK had accomplishments. Sanders is most similar to Dennis Kucinich. O'Malley has the best record of anyone running with actual accomplishments such as:
1. Ended death penalty in Maryland
2. Prevented fracking in Maryland and put regulations in the way to prevent next GOP Gov Hogan fom easily allowing fracking.
3. Provided health insurance for 380,000
4. Reduced infant mortality to an all time low.
5. Provided meals to thousands of hungry children and moved toward a goal for eradicating childhood hunger.
6. Enacted a $10.10 living wage and a $11. minimum wage for State workers.
7. Supporter the Dream Act
8. Cut income taxes for 86% of Marylanders (raised taxes on the rich).
9. Reformed Marylands tax code to make it more progressive.
10. Enacted some of the nations most comprehensive reforms to protect homeowners from foreclosure.
O'Malley similarly has the most comprehensive, most workable plans of anyone running. His plans are listed here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/12813600
Sanders' and HRC's plans are more like wish lists which are not likely to pass a divided Congress. O'Malley's plans are more grounded in reality, like limiting college tuition and helping students with a plan to make college debt free rather than Sanders' "make college free" wishful idea. O'Malley's plan is here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/12813600#post13
If you haven't read the plan, take a minute and look it over. It is something that is seldom seem in politics, comprehensive with goals, dates, etc.
Things like Single Payer don't come about like a newborn baby, they come in steps, Social Security, medicare, the ACA, and hopefully a next step.
Sanders expects everything to change overnight. A legislator without many accomplishments is expected, by his supporters on DU, to not only have more accomplishments than Obama, but to cause a revolution that changes everything. Sorry, but that idea is childish, not happening, and not likely to happen. The reason his supporters expect it to happen is because he speaks well on the issues? Having the right ideas and policies is a good first step, but being able to implement those ideas is vitally important. Sanders has not shown he can do that while O'Malley has a good track record of getting his policies enacted and paying off for the people in his state.
Why O'Malley? Because he is the best candidate running.

(131,159 posts)this is an election, where responsible citizens select the candidate they think can best do the job they want to be done.

(45,529 posts)The triangulation you proposed is unnecessary. I'll continue to support the candidate I feel is the best.

(22,308 posts)...that the number of posts from Bernie supporters is roughly the same as those from Hillary supporters.
I would even go so far as to say that the number of rude and/or over-the-top posts from Bernie and Hillary supporters are roughly the same.
Assuming those two statements are true, and there are ~4 times as many Bernie supporters here than there are Hillary supporters (as this poll suggests at the time I am posting this)...
Just what does that say about the Hillary supporters here?

Most of the toxic posts/threads in this forum are from one side, I thought they were a minority?
*note to jury: this is an opinion only, and by saying "most" I'm also noting that one side is not solely responsible for toxic posts/threads
No supporters were harmed in the making of this post.

(22,308 posts)It really does look like they are at least 4 times worse than Bernie supporters.

(20,226 posts)Clinton's most ardent supporters. It is clear as the figures point out that proportionally more Hillary supporters are using a lot more scorched earth - win at any cost - twist any half-truth and tell any lie tactics.
I do not know who they think they are going to win over with these Rovian tactics.

(7,906 posts)Just one look at the Greatest Page, would stop most Democrats from joining this site.
It's embarrassing. No one wants to recommend this site to other friends at this point.
The anti-union talk coming out of one group here is enough to drive democrats away. I can't believe how much I have read here about corrupt union bosses without one shred of evidence to back it up. The same holds true for almost all issues. Civil Rights leaders have been called "bought and sold" by some members here. It is painful to watch. I can't wait until the primaries are over.
