2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI support Hillary and I'm delighted that Trudeau won in Canada.
I remember when his father was in office.
I think it's wonderful that that right wing jerk Harper was defeated.
I don't know a single person who is unhappy that Harper was defeated. All the Democrats I know - Hillary and Bernie supporters alike - are pleased with the Canadian election results. The Republicans I know seem unaware of the election, as they are unaware of most actual current events (bless their hearts).

(11,243 posts)I don't hate the posters or anything. They just post sooooooo much partisan smack that it drowns out the rest of the board. And the funny thing is, I have seen almost nothing about this, other than response threads. So it must be just a few instigating.

(19,348 posts)I will also say that while I endorse strategic voting to keep the Cons out (vote NDP over Con), I am a supporter of the Liberal Party
and would be a member if I were a Canadian and I prefer Trudeau over Muclair, but Muclair over Harper, Horse Manure over Harper...
and most other things over Harper.

(297,240 posts)Year! President Obama and PM Justin Trudeau.. Historic!
Under new leader Trudeau, President Obama may start hailing 'O Canada'
MONTREAL Canada's surprising election of the Liberal Party's Justin Trudeau as prime minister means both the United States and its northern neighbor can expect increased cooperation during President Obama's last year in office.
"I think Justin Trudeau is certainly going to reach out to Obama," said Donald Abelson, political science professor at Western University in London, Ontario. "They share a lot of similar interests in terms of protecting the environment and advancing certain progressive policies on the world stage."
