Two Million Donations.
Bernie is showing that Democracy really does work.
Even when it looks like all is lost. Corporations own America. This old guy pops up talking about what he's talked about for most of his life, an America that works for Americans.
Hats off to Bernie!
Together, we can change directions and give our children a better world.
Hope shines bright.

(19,326 posts)Sometimes it's all too easy to be lulled to sleep by all the empty noise "Bernie can't win", "hillary's
inevitable, look at the polls", and how he's not being covered NEARLY to the extent that makes any
logical sense if the media were even remotely doing it's job for our democracy.
And yes, Hats off To Bernie for his courageous epic campaign for the WH.

(8,159 posts)2 million donors. Possibly many like me that have never donated to a campaign.
Yes I always vote but no one has ever reached me like Bernie has.
In my opinion ( yes only my opinion) he maybe the one to stop the damn wars and get this country back to what we once were.

(30,481 posts)The game is currently rigged against it. Sanders isn't doing anything against all odds, he is proving campaigns can generate enough funds off direct citizen contributions. That is awesome, but we knew the money was there. He is doing it the way it should be done. It's also one of the biggest reasons I wouldn't consider voting for him.
tecelote
(5,122 posts)He broke Obama's record by 2X.
I'd say the odds were against anyone doing that.
Bernie did it handily.

(30,481 posts)While it is impressive, other candidates currently running seem to have a much better method of raising funds. That's on both sides of the isle. Sanders principles don't trump my rights.

(7,865 posts)The people that donate will show up to their caucuses and primaries. They will vote at that time and they will vote in November.
Having that many people donate to your campaign is a very good sign.

(154 posts)and is trumping your rights?
Do explain, I am very curious exactly how that is happening.
Sander's got the memo of how the other candidates are running their campaign finance and sees it for what it is, legal corruption. That is, kind of, ya know, his Campaign in a nut shell! I doubt you will dare click on this link to Bernie's Campaign page, but it spells it out pretty explicitly. For a "trusted source," good old "moderate" CNN might tickle your fancy.
According to this,
I understand that you condone citizens united / legal bribery in politics as you are arguing for it in this instance.
To that, I must vehemently

(1,301 posts)Because they don't make a lick of sense, and every 'clarification' has only taken us deeper down the rabbit hole.
I hope a nap is all that's necessary, but that if medical attention is required, it's being delivered as we speak.

Greed is an awful thing that makes people say and do very odd things.

(2,427 posts)Thats why you wouldn't consider voting for him because he is raising funds the right way?

(30,481 posts)My rights won't be sold down the river over his principals. Really is that simple. It is nothing new and has often been discussed here. Many won't consider him as he refused to go all in for our rights when it comes to campaigning.

(1,301 posts)...especially since I probably sounded like a concern troll. If the comment went over my head, I can certainly live with that!
Have a great time with your family! I'm thinking pretty seriously about taking my kids to Sweatman's BBQ tonight, myself, speaking of dinner plans... it's an institution here in the Lowcountry, and I have yet to check it out myself!

(154 posts)complete dismissal to this inane idea that Bernie is trampling your rights by fighting to overturn Citizens United.
This is an asinine assertion in support of a blatantly corrupt law.
What kind of Orwellian doublethink mindset leads someone to believe Bernie is taking the rights of people away from them in challenging Citizens United?
We can all see your attitude is the same as this guy...
I would say the same thing, but in reverse. My voting rights won't be sold to the highest corporate bidder. Money should never sway my representative towards the interests of those wealthier than I, and if it does it is in violation of my rights as a citizen of the human being variety.
You are not alone in this world NCTraveler, others get shat on by this kind of ideology having legs and going off and becoming a law. I find it utter repugnant that anyone who wasn't directly profiting from it could be in support of Citizens United, and those people are the true leeches on society.

(67,782 posts)And a Sanders supporter posted just a little while ago that they haven't reached a million yet.

"The campaign did not release the number of unique donors to Sanders many people have given more than once but aides said that figure is approaching 1 million."

2 million contributions - as the title states.
2 million contributors is still a short time away.
Still, heroic numbers. Both.

(29,503 posts)I think was right after she'd left the State Department. He was asking her things, and mentioned Warren Buffett, and Hillary started doing her bobble-head thing and smiling, stating, 'yes, he's a friend of mine,' and I just rolled my eyes.
Mind you, I don't think Warren Buffett is a bad guy - I happen to respect his business acumen just as many others do, but it just became clear to me that she's going to listen to her 1% pals, ignoring struggling Americans at the bottom entirely.

(13,877 posts)mythology
(9,527 posts)But on the other hand it does kind of depress me. There are 300 million people in the country. Sure a lot of them are kids, but also there have been roughly 1 million individual donors to the campaign. That's roughly speaking 1/3rd of 1 percent who contributed. Sure there are other people running, but they all have fewer donors and even being generous, probably only 5% of people have donated.
Sure some are like me and happy to vote for any of the candidates (Democratic that is) and so aren't donating in the primary, but that is such a small number of people donating in the election for the most important office in the country.

(9,148 posts)..shore up your debate talking points.
That helps too!
DWS should cancel the debate until bernie turns over the data his top guy stole, as was requested of him.
If they find that data was useful in debating HRC & OMalley then the debate is tainted.
Bernie should stand on his own merit in the debate, not resort to this kind of sabatoge just to keep up with debate talking points.
That's what this data heist is about.
He needs to honor the request & turn over the heisted data, or the debate should be cancelled.
This is some seriously low level shit from the bernie campaign.
tecelote
(5,122 posts)You need to read the articles. They reported the problem and now the messenger is being shot.
Bernie's morals and ethics are not the ones to be questioned.
Why did the DNC not take care of the problem when first reported? Who else had this access? Why is the vendor so close to the Hillary camp?
This stinks and everyone knows it.
It's going to backfire.
Americans can smell a rat and they love the underdog. Especially one that has their backs and is fighting the big bad oligarchy.
misterhighwasted
(9,148 posts)NO one but bernie is to blame.
Turn over the data heisted and stop blaming everyone but bernies top guy who damned well knew the value of what he was taking. 4 times!
They have asked for the heisted data turned over.
we'll see how honest the sanders campaign really is.
Or will they typically pass off the blame...but..but..but
