CNN Poll: Obama Favored in Debates

from CNN.com:

CNN Poll:Who will win the Presidential Debates?

Most voters think President Barack Obama will have an advantage in the three debates, according to a new national survey. And a CNN/ORC International poll (PDF) released Tuesday also indicates Obama's approval rating at 51%, a gray area for an incumbent president running for re-election.

Fifty-nine percent of likely voters questioned in the survey say that Obama is more likely to do a better job than Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in the debates, with 34% saying that Romney will beat Obama.

While only five percent of Democrats think that Romney will have the upper hand in the October showdowns, 18% of Republicans say that Obama will have the advantage.

The debates are scheduled to be held on October 3 in Denver, Colorado, October 16, in Hempstead, New York, and October 22 in Boca Raton, Florida. CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley, anchor of "State of the Union," will moderate the October 16 debate. Vice President Joe Biden and Rep. Paul Ryan, the GOP vice presidential nominee, face off on October 11 in Danville, Kentucky.

The CNN poll was conducted Friday through Sunday, entirely after last week's Democratic convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. According to the survey, 51% of adults nationwide approve of the job Obama is doing in the White House, with 44% saying they disapprove. The 51% approval is up three points from last week's CNN poll, which was conducted before the Democratic convention.

I've been trying to convince everyone that Romney is a fantastic debater and poor Obama was going to be lucky to maintain an even footing.

Always try to lower expectations then when Obama wipes the floor with the mealy mouthed shitface he'll look even better.

3. I agree. This perception places huge pressure on the Prez, while all Rmoney has to do is show up...

and try not to vomit on himself, and it'll be critiqued as a success for Rmoney.

and Joe Biden. She managed to not wet herself in public and some of the pundits were all over the place yapping about how well she did against Joe Biden.

I'll admit to being curious about the tone that Romney brings. If he's still as far behind as he is today he's going to be nuts.

He just needs to continue to look Presidential. All the pressure is on Mitt - he has to score a knockout and will not be able to help himself from overreaching. I'm looking forward to the debates.

4. We've only really heard Romney debate the asshats in the Republican Primary.

The only one who could carry an argument forward was Newt and to some extent Ron Paul. Rick Perry was stoned during one debate. Herman Cain was comical. Rick Santorum was borderline crazy. All Mitt had to do was look reasonably sane and stop making $10,000 bets on camera.

So we haven't really seen Mitt debate seriously. We should take that into consideration. Honestly, just the thought of Mitt up there with Obama makes me laugh.

MittWit will stumble all over himself while trying not to answer any questions. And I think his angry demeanor will come shining through! 'How dare you serfs expect me to explain myself!'

11. Oh, I expect the media will be flogging the idea that the President relies on his advisors

as an excuse of Mitt's lack of competence. Trouble is, he's either chosen some shitty campaign advisors or decided to ignore the advice he got. If he can't get/take good advice, saying that he'll surround himself with advisors doesn't go over well.
