CBS This Morning: Trump WARNS Clinton to "Be Careful" After Sexism Charge

Hillary Clinton is using Donald Trump’s own words to rally female support for her presidential campaign. She referred to his "sexism" after he used a vulgar term to describe her 2008 primary loss. Trump came back with a warning on Twitter, telling Clinton to "be careful as you play the war on women card." He later tweeted, “I have great respect for women" and again told her to “BE CAREFUL!” Julianna Goldman reports.

She says something inaccurate. He overreacts. She refuses to back down. He says something vulgar. She accuses him of sexism. He warns her to be careful. The ball is now in her court.

I guess it is a good thing if you are a Clinton supporter. She is rallying her base. I think it is bad if you are just an average American. It now appears as if Donald and Hillary are equals in the eyes of the media.

How sad is that?

They are VERY media and tech savvy. It's really not far-fetched to think they will utilize videos of Trump's fascist BS to show potential recruits how much America hates them—if they're not already. They're on the internet. They have access to the same videos we do. Of course, they will use him.

Not unlike the racism that blossomed when Obama was elected.

But more importantly, Ism, here's hoping that you and yours are happy and healthy for the holidays, and that the New Year brings you all that you hope it will.

I think she is going to do whatever she can to promote Trump as the GOP front runner.

Think about how McCaskill promoted Todd Akins as her opponent because he looked to be easiest to beat.

Even if the strategy doesn't work, and Trump doesn't get the nomination, it still serves to increase the stain he leaves on the GOP.

As I've said elsewhere, Obama only campaigned against Romney during 2012 amid the primary season. GOP strategists talked a lot about it after the fact that Obama really defined the GOP campaign early on while they were still going through the process and that made it a lot harder to shake off what they did in the primary to veer towards the center more come the general.

Define your opponent before they define you. Smart politics.

Donald is now engaging in a back and forth with her as an equal. This looks like a mistake to me.

Maybe it is a good move for her in the general but I think that starting up more "Clinton drama" this early could backfire. Presenting herself as an equal to Donald Trump can't energize her voters and it sure as hell will energize his. She is playing into her weakness. Most people don't want another 4 years of scandals and divisive politics. Trump supporters are the exception to that rule.

I hope her people know what they are doing, but they also thought it was a good idea to list “7 Ways Hillary Clinton is Just Like Your Abuela” and to use a logo showing Rosa Parks seated in what appears to be a backseat.

This could lead to something like "We ran with our heads down to the vehicles because of the snipers."

Is this the old right wing canard about Monica Lewinsky being an unwilling participant? About Paula Jones? Jennifer Flowers? Who was raped?

And how did Hillary have anything to do with any of those incidences? (All of which I believe were consensual.)

"How can you lecture us on respecting women when your husband and former POTUS..." etc.

On paper this doesn't look good, but it feels like a nuclear option as the messenger would get slammed as hard/harder than the mudslinging target.

Outside of their bases, I'd say both Clinton and Trump/GOP need to be careful on this issue. Focus on the real ones.

Trump can get away with it, for now at least. HRC is supposed to be the world leader...she cannot get in the mud. Mud is for hacks, not the leader of the Western World.

Different playing fields? Yes. Unfair? perhaps. But that's the lay of the land at the moment.
