"Ace Of Spades"
If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man,
You win some, lose some, all the same to me,
The pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say,
I don't share your greed, the only card I need is
The Ace Of Spades
Playing for the high one, dancing with the devil,
Going with the flow, it's all the game to me,
Seven or Eleven, snake eyes watching you,
Double up or quit, double stake or split,
The Ace Of Spades
You know I'm born to lose, and gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby,
I don't wanna live for ever,
And don't forget the joker!
Pushing up the ante, I know you wanna see me,
Read 'em and weep, the dead man's hand again,
I see it in your eyes, take one look and die,
The only thing you see, you know it's gonna be,
The Ace Of Spades

(1,061 posts)It can get very depressing around here. DU will still be here when you feel better. Ignore can be your friend.
There is a whole world out there. Get into something new. Go to the library. Call some old friends. Volunteer to walk some dogs at the humane society.

(24,689 posts)This place can get nuts at times. Your posts are some of the most intelligent and thoughtful on this site.
Peace.

(1,095 posts)..but I've been reading your stuff here for years, and it's brought me a lot of insight and comfort. I'm sure it has for many others too.
I hope you can feel better Josh.

(12,448 posts)Just an itty bitty piece of it. REALLY itty bitty! Like others here have said, take a break from the GD-P cesspool, or indeed from DU for awhile. Go outside, read a good book, go to the zoo, do something you love.

(62,536 posts)I made a note to delete this when I woke up. But, as I type, laojsal wkat beydne oiejr- As I type wasted beyond belief, I truly love my DU brethren, comrades, fellows. Still out of us so I'll delete the OP when I wake up, just wanted to say, you all rock.
And yeah, I may give myself a day or week or so to get away from it all. Love ya. <3

Working at breaking it. Thinking about deleting my account too.

(46,179 posts)Stay in GD if you want DU, and go to friendlier sites for primary discussions.

(46,155 posts)Life is too short, you don't need to subject yourself to the bastion of hyberbolic vitriol and intellectual dishonesty that modern DU has become.
I do want to say that you are a great person, all of your posts over the years on DU tell me that. You are compassionate, thoughful, and honest.
Take care.

(1,771 posts)Though we are all individuals. Each with our own persona. Depression sucks - I know.
Alcohol and Depression are not a good combination.
Take a break from this place. Do something that you enjoy. Read a book. Go see a movie. Go for a long walk.
Just know, you are not alone.
MeNMyVolt
(1,095 posts)But alcohol has a way of removing it, if only for a while. Let's you trade out depression with numbness, sometimes a haughty anger, sometimes a feeling of kinship, but most times just forgetting your depression. Until the next day. Then you start all over again.
I just hope that Josh, whom I really don't know, takes some comfort that there are people here who understand. I have my family trying to help me, but sometimes even that hurts.
I've gone too far here. All my best wishes Josh.

(2,522 posts)Please make sure you get professional help, if you haven't already. 1-800-273-8255 might help too.
Best wishes.

(93,617 posts)Depression it's pRobably best to try to avoid this place. It will get worse as we get closer to voting.
I hope you are getting professional help and if not you should.
JustABozoOnThisBus
(24,681 posts)Yeah, there's a bunch of strange or angry arguments, but, do you know who you'll vote for in the primary? I know who I'm voting for. The rest is just noise.
Now, if you're still undecided, then I feel for your pain.
PS almost all my hides were due to drunk posting. It goes with the territory.
HassleCat
(6,409 posts)I am sometimes very disappointed when I get an overwhelming bad reaction to a post, when people alert on my post, etc. In the primary season, people seem to be highly opinionated and overly sensitive. I think this will dissipate in a year or so. Unfortunately, it hasn't peaked quite yet, so I may have to get an extra bottle of vodka. I know that's not the right way to deal with it, but... Hang in there.

(16,380 posts)My husband and I just moved permanently to our home in Northern Ecuador. He suffers from depression and while change is a wonderful positive thing for me, for him it's a trillion times more difficult.
Yesterday was good. Quito and errands. Fun. Today for him, the couch.
Poor guy doesn't enjoy alcohol either.
Depression is major suckage.
Hang in there Josh.

(31,170 posts)So I try not to do it too often.
Number23
(24,544 posts)that you should be.
There is too much bitter toxicity here. Too much proud ignorance. I don't think it's good for anyone but especially not those who are particularly sensitive and are very affected by the bad behavior of others.
MeNMyVolt
(1,095 posts)Too many disconnects. Makes one feel alone. Or drive one to increase the loneliness.
Don't know why I keep posting on this thread. Even though I can't make it happen, I just want you to feel better.
