A Day Before He Gives It, Hillary Camp Tries To HI-JACK Bernie’s Wall Street Speech

As many of you probably know, Bernie Sanders is set to speak tomorrow in New York City regarding how he will rein in Wall Street and bring reform to the financial industry. That being a major platform of his campaign, and a reformed financial industry being something a great many people very much want to see, it hardly needs to be said that this speech will be a big one for Bernie.

So the Clinton campaign released a statement today saying Bernie should just listen to her....

In his speech tomorrow, Senator Sanders should go beyond his existing plans for reforming Wall Street and endorse Hillary Clinton’s tough, comprehensive proposals to rein in risky behavior within the shadow banking sector.

http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2016-01-04/clinton-campaign-prebuts-sanders-wall-street-speech

To which Sanders’ communications director Micheal Briggs responded:

Senator Sanders won’t be taking advice on how to regulate Wall Street from a former Goldman Sachs partner and a former Treasury Department official who helped Wall Street rig the system.

Indeed Micheal, and even aside from that fairly obvious pot-meeting-kettle this seems an odd tactic to me. They probably aren’t going to fool very many people with this particular “turn strength into weakness” ploy. What I think they will do, did do, is give the Bernie camp most of a day to do some editing.

about what Hillary Clinton has to say about Wall Street reform.

She takes their campaign bribes, has done nothing to stop the abuses of these behemoth banks, had never been an outspoken champion for reform like Elizabeth Warren is, and she refuses to reinstate Glass Stegall.

Yes, we get it Hillary. Bernie is giving a big speech tomorrow and you don't want to be left out of the party. But you have no credibility on this issue.

You guys love to take the crumbs that Elizabeth Warren gives Hillary and twist them into giant three-tiered cakes with fondant flowers.

Is there anything in the Clinton campaign that is not puffed up, exaggerated, lied about or twisted?

Warren's comment, “Secretary Clinton is right to fight back against Republicans trying to sneak Wall Street giveaways into the must-pass government funding bill” is hardly an endorsement of Hillary's "Wall Street plan."

The comment was polite and positive. Nothing more.

Warren was called for a quote--put on the spot, for sure. What was she supposed to do?

This is the kind of underhanded bullshit that the Clinton camp pulls. Call Warren for a quote, and then extrapolate that as Warren's glowing endorsement for all things Hillary.

Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton are as far apart as two politicians can be on Wall Street reform. You aren't fooling anyone.

So there is a "someone" who cares very much what Hillary has to say about Wall Street reform, despite what you said. Actually, many millions of someones, but she's among the most prominent.

They're charged with building narratives.

Whether something is true or false (or flat out ridiculous) is not on their radar.

Narratives must be constructed. And repeated.

The problem is that no one is buying their snake oil. This "Hillary is the darling of Wall Street reform" is about as laughable as it gets.

Hillary's campaign argues we can only do one thing or the other.

They say what we can't do is restore Glass-Steagall. The same staffers telling us that particular story are the same ones who will be making policy a year from now if she becomes President.

Everyone knows that Clinton's "concern" about Wall Street is nothing more than bullshit and lies during a tough primary campaign.

In her years of public service she has played the Wall Street game. She takes their money. They like her. Her top-ten campaign contributors include Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and Citibank.

Bernie has been on record as never taking Wall Street campaign bribes and he's been outspoken for years on breaking up the big banks and reinstating Glass Steagall.

Hillary has never fought for Wall Street reform. She's sat on the sidelines while Elizabeth Warren has been very publicly fighting for the American people on this issue.

Bernie is setting the agenda for the entire Democratic primary. All Hillary can do is offer up feeble, hypocritical, "Oh me too! Me too!" nonsense that is laughable.

No one believes that you want Wall Street reform Hillary.

That taunt from Hillary was just the start of the obfuscation. Now here comes the BIG announcement regarding President Obama's intention to implement gun control measures through executive orders is scheduled to take place Tuesday. What a coincidence.... The talking heads have already started headlining the announcement this evening. Recently, it was said he would make the announcement soon. "Soon" then became "in the coming days." Now we learn it is the same day of Bernie's big speech.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/obama-announce-executive-actions-gun-control-tuesday/story?id=36070572

Looks like it is shaping up to be a BIG NEWS day. Bill Clinton started campaigning in New Hampshire for Hillary this week. Of course, that HAS to be covered.

And other things could erupt -- just a few hours ago we learned the FBI started working with the local sheriff in Oregon handling the militia's takeover of the wildlife preserve. Got to cover that of course.

Stocks tumbled on Wall Street today so that as well must be covered.

Yep, it is certainly looking like a BIG NEWS day tomorrow. Dollars to doughnuts Bernie will not get the coverage he deserves, and naturally no one will cover it Wednesday because it will be stale news by then....

I feel pretty confident in saying President Obama prefers Hillary over Bernie for several obvious reasons, not the least of which is Obama's determination to keep pushing for the TPP. If Sanders were to prevail, obviously that would have a negative backlash on that "trade bill." So take a wild guess which issues the networks will cover extensively.

No disrespect intended toward President Obama. This is just politics and part of the way the game is played.
