2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumFINALLY! A Progressive Is Primary-ing DWS in #FL23
I dont think I need to go into any detail about how truly terrible Debbie Wasserman Schultz is. Not just at her job as chair of the DNC, but just as a Congressperson in general. If there is one thing that unites Hillary and Bernie supporters, its our shared loathing of DWS.
Enter Tim Canova:

Sometimes, just the fact that someone runs means a lot to me, win, lose or draw. Bernie and Canova fit that description.

(51,076 posts)it was fun but not anymore.
Oh and when you leave lock the door behind you, we don't want any more of the people like you supported to be able to just walk right in anymore.

(51,076 posts)but I like your idea even better. That way we know for sure the door is looked plus we can have the lock changed so she won't have any other key stashed around.
You can't trust people like her

(27,247 posts)Fine job =
Net loss of 10 state legislative chambers in 2014
Net loss of 3 governorships
Net loss of 13 House seats
Net loss of 9 Senate seats
If that's a "fine" job, I'd hate to see a "lousy" job.

Based on what I've seen on DU, Hillary supporters bow down before DWS.

(15,480 posts)The word apparently has come down from on high: Job One - defend Debbie from attack, or risk the wrath of She Whose Name Shall Not Be Spoken!!!!
Talk about lock step marching over a cliff!

(19,089 posts)Clearly DWS has a weed problem ....
No ... strike that ... she has an authoritarian problem .... She has a right wing problem ....
She apparently wants to (re)criminalize pot users, including medical users ...
To quote Seinfeld - "That's a pretty big matzoh ball hangin' out there" ...
She is rapidly becoming low hanging fruit ... Yet, Hillary supporters in DU have to twist into a pretzel to rationalize the cognitive dissonance here ... Pretty sad ...

(80,708 posts)Honestly Im susprised people arent falling all over themselves to defend her support for arresting medical marijuana users.
Maybe thats next.

(88,117 posts)So glad someone is running against her.
A reminder of her past history:
This is a super video of Debbie and Ed Schultz on the Larry King show in 2008 trying to out talk each other. Ed wins.
Two Florida Democratic congress folks prefer their Republican incumbents to their own party.
Democrats torn between party, GOP allegiances
This time around, Wasserman Schultz and Meek say their relationships with the Republican incumbents, Reps. Lincoln Diaz-Balart and his brother Mario, and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, leave them little choice but to sit out the three races.
''At the end of the day, we need a member who isn't going to pull any punches, who isn't going to be hesitant,'' Wasserman Schultz said.
The decision comes as Democrats believe they have their best shot in years to defeat at least one of the Cuban-American incumbents with a roster of Democrats that include former Hialeah Mayor Raul Martinez, opposing Lincoln Diaz-Balart; outgoing Miami-Dade Democratic party chair Joe Garcia, opposing Mario Diaz-Balart; and businesswoman Annette Taddeo, opposing Ros-Lehtinen.
But Wasserman Schultz and Meek say their ties to the three Republicans are personal as well as professional: Both served in the state Legislature with Mario Diaz-Balart and say they work in concert with all three on South Florida issues.

(462 posts)I voted for him over Crist in the senate race, but he was a piss poor democrat. He wasn't an actual republican like Crist, but those sorts of Dems just keep getting their asses handed to them in Florida. Yet we keep running them every time we can't find an actual republican to run as a democrat like Charlie Crist or Patrick Murphy.
I really hate my state party.

(29,853 posts)Gyrocopter pilot to challenge Wasserman Schultz
A Florida man arrested earlier this year for landing a gyrocopter on the Capitol lawn in a call for campaign finance reform will challenge Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) in the 2016 primary.
Lawyers awaiting the felony sentencing of Douglas Hughes informed the D.C. Circuit Court of his plans to challenge Wasserman Schultz, who also serves as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, in a filing Wednesday.
The Associated Press first reported on the filing and Hughes's plans.
"Mr. Hughes plans a 'strong ground game for his campaign, and will not engage in
aerial civil disobedience,'" the document says while arguing to lift certain travel restrictions stipulated by the court in light of the longshot bid.
