It worked against John Kerry. Just ask Karl. Remember the purple band aids.
The Republicans made fun of the Purple Heart recipient, and ignored the fact Bush's dad got him a job in the champagne unit of the Texas Air National Guard, so he wouldn't ever have to go to Vietnam. No disrespect to National Guardsmen from Texas.
Hillary and her surrogates are attacking Bernie where she is weakest. Her ties to Wall Street, her Wall Street donations, and her $2.9 Million in "speaking fees" or legalized payola in my book.

When will her supporters figure out to call her a flawed candidate is the understatement of the year. And I like Hillary. I just don't trust her to put my family's interests above her corporate sponsor's interests.
I don't care about the bs dishonest Republican attacks on the Clintons. They are like the flying monkeys on The Wizard of OZ. Only worse. My distrust is much deeper, and based in actual positions, and actions. (and payola)

I may stop saying I like you any day now Hillary. This is pure bullshit.

(24,411 posts)I don't know anyone who actually believes that Clinton has a strong response to Wall Street abusers and will be tough with them.
We see who her biggest campaign contributors are. We all understand that she is against reinstating Glass/Steagall and that her husband was responsible for rolling it back in the first place.
For her to insinuate that Bernie's plan wasn't tough enough, was utterly laughable.
I think we are in an era, where people are sick and tired of the Rovian baloney. It won for a while and it was effective when it was new. Now, it just looks like you're trying to be clever, when you're really just acting like a buffoon.
I also think that social media has exploded and has become the main source of news, information sharing and communication for people who are done with the lies and spin of the MSM. When John Kerry was Swiftboatted, social media was not at the peak that it is today. And Rovian tactics were still fairly new.
I think the attacks on John Kerry were some of the saddest moments in Democratic political history. John Kerry, a war hero was turned into a coward and a failure. The entire smear was a lie. The Swiftboat liars were partisan hacks. I still remember that horrible woman at the RNC convention, with her purple band-aids on her face, mocking Kerry for his service. Such a disgrace. The lies were so egregious that John Kerry barely fought against it. He figured that the truth would surface. This allowed them to steamroll him and create a false narrative about his military service. So sad. Kerry is a good, decent, brave man.
I think he's one of our party's most intelligent members. I hope our party learned from that experience. You always fight back. Never let those bastards define who are you, no matter how ridiculous or false their assertions are. Because if you don't, those ridiculous and false assertions become who everyone believes you are.
