Agence France-Presse Sun 26 May 2019 13.09 BST Last modified on Sun 26 May 2019 13.15 BST An Iraqi court has sentenced three French citizens to death after they were found guilty of joining Islamic State, a court official said. Captured in Syria by a US-backed force fighting the jihadists, they are the first French Isis members to receive death sentences in Iraq, where they were transferred for trial. Named as Kevin Gonot, Leonard Lopez and Salim Machou, they have 30 days to appeal. 1. So PRISONERS are given "EXECUTED" when caught.
This is something new? I think those ISIS people fighting may decide to go down fighting knowing they will be EXECUTED. This sure is a rotten political decision IRAQ has chosen.

2. The new thing is foreign fighters captured in Syria facing hanging by Iraq,
where just membership in the Islamic State is a capital offense.
The Trump Administration has urged Europe to take their nationals back from Syria to face justice in their original home countries. Even in Iraq, a captured Jihadi still has a greater than zero chance of living to fight another day. |
