Heh

This is not a feminist topic , but I'm reading the "Newsflesh" series by Mira Grant-- it's a zombie/ conspiracy/Journalism thriller trilogy, I'm loving it, one more book to go. Anyway, I go to her website that has this fun little Q&A on How to survive a horror movie and found this little gem;

Q: Is it better to be the Purely Virtuous Woman Who Does Not Compromise (while those of lesser morality get devoured all round me), or the Practical Woman Of The World Who Can Choose The Lesser Evil (while the foolish idealists are zombie lunch, dinner, and tea)?

A: The answer to this question depends entirely on the decade of your horror movie. If it's the 1980s, the former. If it's the 1990s, the latter. If it's anything made after the year 2001, once the word "woman" comes into your description, you're basically just screwed.

definitely adding that to my reading list. I enjoyed the Walking Dead graphic novels. They were however ...graphic.

(Of course I love Hellblazer and Preacher as well)

These books aren't so graphic, this last one is dragging just a bit, but has good continuity and plenty of action. The first two--Wow

have not read Hellblazer.
I store them up like treasures, my future reads. (I'm in grad school and do a ton of science reading so I love when I can unplug).
anymore good suggestions?

And the spinoff Lucifer. I'm not the best graphic novel go to person, I like Tankgirl even if its a too crazy and, Xmen, but by the time I got started with X men I was reading Deadppol. I almost need a guide myself, although I have my eye on a couple others

We have a quirky fun independent bookstore here in Athens called Bizzarro Wuxtury that carries a ton of graphic novels and other hard to finds.

I just finished Alice Echols's Hot Stuff: Disco and the Remaking of American Culture.
(not dark and not a graphic novel) but very good. recommend it

I was a (I thought) a cool kid for the proverbial 15 minutes; (waste of teenage and early 20's years) Then embraced I embraced geekdom and never looked back.

Even my kids know I fly my freak flag high

Feminism has been with my officially since I was 18 or 19.

I thoroughly enjoy your geekdom. And I am glad you got out of that earlier mess. Lessons learner, but life is much easier, for sure
