For Stanley Lofton, it was his 61st arrest. Sheriffs police said Ronald Skipper was arrested for the 57th time; his rap sheet includes offenses such as rape, burglary, drug- and weapons-related offenses and attempting to disarm a police officer.

It is refreshing to see some police take domestic violence more seriously. Too often law enforcement treats such cases as trivial and inconvenient, even though they can escalate to murder or murder/suicide. Some of the most horrendous stories we've heard, could have been prevented if early reports of domestic violence had been treated as real crimes, punishable by prison time.

(6,272 posts)I love Kamala Harris for this.
In my opinion, there just are not enough prisons for all these violent men. There simply are not, so they are let free to maim and destroy lives.

(47,397 posts)they become bolder and bolder. Many of the abusive men I've known would have stopped if they had been held accountable in the beginning. They are often like children who are not disciplined for their actions, so they keep pushing their boundaries. That is when society is expected to set limits and provide consequences to those who cannot or will not abide by society's rules.
