History of Feminism

Let me jump to the quote by Mr Polanski:
Oy
Than another from Mr. Ozan:
THR: Why do you believe that is a desire? I really dont think thats the case.
Ozon: I think thats the case because sexuality is complex. I think to be an object in sexuality is something very obvious you know, to be desired, to be used. There is kind of a passivity that women are looking for. Thats why the scene with Charlotte Rampling is very important, because she says [prostitution] was a fantasy she always had but never had the courage to do it. She was too shy.
THR: How did you come to the conclusion that is a theme in womens sexuality?
Ozon: It is the reality. You speak with many women, you speak with shrinks, everybody knows that. Well, maybe not Americans!

I ain't mad, y'know, really. I'm more like an incandescent angel of fuck you and all your iconic movies.
I'm gonna go watch "I Spit on Your Grave" in honor of the Cannes.

That's a great movie to watch for catharsis.
Another one is "Ticked off Trannies with Knives."
I'm so excited, that one has been on my 'to watch' list forever and I haven't, I'm glad to get a nod for it because most people I know haven't heard or it or haven't watched it. Thanks!

(111,255 posts)There isn't much campiness to it, less than I'd have liked, anyway, but Willam is in it and that alone makes it worth watching.
ETA: I'm a little shocked, Rotten Tomatoes gave it an 80% rec!

(14,531 posts)Polanski come to the US and say that. Is he trying to say he is a pedophile because a great many women are to "masculine" for his taste?

(41,976 posts)It's an idiotic thing to say in the first place, and I expect he's attention seeking with his comments. If he really believes that shit, well he may be rich, famous and talented, but he's missed out on a part of life that could have enriched him, and perhaps saved him from thinking 13 year olds were just dandy sexual partners. He makes me sick.
I remember telling my husband before we were married never to bring me flowers-- because they were just going to die anyway. (He's the romantic in our relationship, that puzzled him for about 10 seconds) so he brings me plants I ask for, that I can put in the ground that we both enjoy. That's just me. Other women enjoy a gift of flowers. So do men.

(14,531 posts)cut flowers either, for the same reason. I did enjoy the last dozen roses hubby gave me. They were sitting on top of my 50th birthday present.
Those 2 men do seem to know what women really want and think. Oh, right. I am an American, so I couldn't possibly know anything..or something like that.

(115,103 posts)So hung up on concepts like equality and not being sexist.
I couldn't help but hear the echo of so many comments from so many people in Mr. Ozan's ignorant blovating... about how 'hung up' American women are over sexuality, simply because we won't shut up and accept that the patriarchy's version is the only version.
And in Mr. Polanski I see the mirror reflection of all those who agonize about how "feminized" men are.
I really am getting to the point of pitying the poor fools who are losing their shit over the loss of these idiotic gender roles. Well, not quite pitying. I don't mock people that I actually pity. But I rank this kind of shit right alongside conservative idiocy, and IMO all of it is worthy of nothing else but mercilessly tearing apart and/or mocking.
